Simon looked at me and smiled. He picked me up and twirled me around. As I laughed I hid my face in his neck. He let me stand again on the floor and I chuckled.
"I am sorry for blaming you." Simon said and I again remembered the night when Simon turned into a vampire. His broke expression killed my heart and somehow I did found myself guilty of it.
"I am somehow to blame for it." I said and looked at him with sorrow in my eyes. He shook his head and held my hand.
"You, Clary Fray are the reason for my happiness. It was just the fault in my stars." He said and gave me half smile. I chuckled and I heard someone cough. I turned myself around and faced Alec. He was carrying Liz in his hands and I couldn't help but feel jealous.
"If you guys are done with your stuff can we get back to the institute?" Alec asked annoyed and glared at Simon. I frowned at Alec.
"You can go. I want to spend time with Simon." I said while looking at my brother Jace.
"That's okay but be careful." Jace said and smiled at me. I nodded in agreement and I saw Jace walking over to Simon. I really hoped he wouldn't give Simon the awkward brotherly talk.
"Take care of her." Jace said and Simon nodded.
"Don't worry. Clary and I have been friends forever and we do everything together. I am a vampire now and I can protect her. I'm immortal and strong." Simon rambled around and Jace looked away annoyed and I saw Alec clenching his jaw.
"Euhm, yes I will take care of her." Simon said immediately when he saw the annoyed expression on Jace's face. Jace gave him the fakest smile and disappeared with Alec and Izzy.
"Your brother is not really a cosy one." Simon joked and I laughed and shook my head.
"Let's just say that Jace is a overprotective brother." I smiled and I meant it. Jace would do anything to make me feel happy. My gut tells me that Jace hates Simon only for lashing out on me but then again he hates Alec for not liking me.
"I can see it." Simon said and smiled.
"Simon, how did all of this happen?" I asked him as we were both quiet. Simon's smile faded away and he looked away.
"I was going to a cafe... Euhm to perform there. They took me and said that they knew you... They wanted to kill me to send you a message. They said you pissed them off." Simon said softly and my eyes widened.
I couldn't imagine how afraid Simon was feeling. He knew all along that his life was in danger and that he would end up dead. My heart broke into little pieces... I was really the one to be blamed for.
"But Sebastian... He explained me everything. It was against the accords to even hurt a mundane... They killed her... She wanted to kill you." Simon breathed out and looked at me and I could see the same fear I saw the night of my first mission.
"Simon, I am so sorry." I said softly and I hugged him tightly. Simon sighed and wrapped his arms around me.
"I am sorry for blaming you..." Simon said and I shook my head. I would never have this against him because I knew where he was coming from. If this would have happened to me I might have done the same thing as Simon.
"Don't apologise." I said and looked at him. He smiled and nodded.
"Where do you live now?" I asked.
"With my mother. Clary... she wants to speak to you." Simon said and my heart froze. It took me so long to forgive my mother, let alone Simon his mother. She knew everything and the feeling inside me were eating me. She just took me in because of she no other choice. It was not because she cared.
"I am sorry but I don't want to speak to her." I said and looked away from Simon. I really hoped that this wouldn't ruin our friendship. It was the only real thing from my previous life...
"I understand that." Simon mumbled and I gave him a small smile, in order for thanking him that he understood me. He returned the smile and took my hand.
"I will never leave you. I will be the best friend you need and I will protect you." Simon said and I smiled at him. He was finally here.
"And I will never leave you either. I will be the best friend you need and I will help you figure out this vampire thing." I said and he chuckled. Simon was now immortal and much stronger than I was.
He still looked like my best friend. He only had pale skin and was dressing differently. I realized now that Simon was standing outside in the sunlight. Confused I looked at him and he returned me the same look.
"What?" He asked me.
"How come you can stand in the sunlight and not burn to death?" I asked confused and was checking if he was not grilling in the sun. Simon laughed.
"We have rings. They are magical sources made by warlocks which allow us to walk in the sunlight. It protects us." Simon said and I mouthed oh. I still needed to learn a lot about this.
"That's cool." I said and he laughed again.
"The runes on your neck is cool." Simon said and I smiled. I wish they didn't hurt as much as it was cool.
"I need to get going...They will get worried and it is dangerous for me to be out here. Agramon is after me." I said and Simon nodded.
"I will drop you off." He said and I smiled. We both walked towards the institute and when we arrived Simon hugged me a goodbye and I walked inside.
"Took you long enough." I heard Alec say and I sighed.
"How is Liz?" I asked and Alec looked at me.
"She is okay." He said and I nodded. I walked away but I felt him grabbing my hand and pulling me towards him. I gasped and looked at him.
"You need to go the infirmary." He commanded me and I raised my eyebrow.
"Why?" I asked annoyed and he pointed at my wound. I totally forgot that I got injured. I didn't even feel the pain. I guess I was getting better at this shadowhunter job.
Feeling numb...
"I will go later." I said and walked away from him. I can't face Alec. The feelings inside me will explode... I sighed and walked to my bedroom. I wanted my feelings for him to fade away. It would be easier to do that if I wouldn't see him...
