January 8th

January 8th was going to be an eventful day. Not only is it Ryan's birthday, but it's also my baby shower. I was going to have my shower at our house with the girls and Ryan was going out with the guys to celebrate his birthday.

"Okay, so all the balloons and streamers are up. The only thing that's missing is the guests." Jaime said, looking around the house.

"They'll be here shortly, you get going." I smiled, nudging Ryan towards the front door.

"Don't have to push me." Ryan said, picking up his car keys.

"Yeah I kind of do, no men allowed." Jaime and I both laughed.

"Alright, alright. I'll be home later, I love you." Ryan said, kissing me gently.

I closed the door and continued to set up the house for my baby shower. I helped Jaime set up the party favors for my guests and got on with the show.

This is going to be a fantastic day.

"This next present is from me." Jaime smiled, handing over a light blue gift bag.

I reached into the bag and took out a box that contained picture frames and little number patches to put on the baby's onesie.

"Because you're a photographer, you're going to be taking a lot of photos of this little guy." Jaime smiled.

"Awe! Thank you." I smiled back, hugging her. "Definitely going to fill up these frames quickly."

I got the usual clothes, diapers, stuff to use for when I give the baby his bath. Alli and Ryan's mom chipped in together and got the baby a mamaRoo, I've had my eye on that since I found out I was pregnant. Baby Carson couldn't have been born into a better, loving family.

"You don't know how much I love this! Thank you guys so much." I said, nearly crying as I hugged them both.

"You're very welcome." Michelle said. "Anything for you, Ryan and my little grandson."

I opened more gifts which included more diapers, bottles, toys and pacifiers. Ryan and I had already purchased our crib and furniture for the nursery, only thing left was to organize it. These weeks were starting to really become a countdown for me. I couldn't wait.

I cut the cake that was decorated with blue edges and blue cursive writing that said: It's A Boy! And handed everyone a piece.

"So have you guys thought of any names?" Ryan-Ashley asked.

"Ryan came up with it, he came up with Carson Alexander." I said, smiling.

"Awe, how cute."

"I like it." Alli said.

Perfect name for the perfect little boy.

It was almost ten at night, my gifts were put away and my baby shower was long over. Ryan was still out with the guys. I picked up my phone and texted him asking where he was at.

Brianne: Hey what time are you coming back home?

I'm worried. I haven't heard from you all day, love you

I was lying in bed trying to stay awake, but being this pregnant I was tired. I closed my eyes for just a few seconds and the next thing I know, I was out like a light.

I jolted awake when I heard the front door slamming and someone making a bunch of noise. Ryan's home.

I looked over at my phone, being blinded by my screen, I adjusted my eyes to see what time it was. Nearly four in the morning! I'm going to kill him.

Ryan walked up the steps, staggering into the bedroom and turned on the light.

"Bri-Brianne, hi." He smiled, hiccuping.

"See you finally decided to come back home." I glared.

"I missed you, so." Ryan smiled, climbing on the bed. He licked his lips and parted my legs with his hand, staring directly into my eyes.

"Ryan, stop it." I said, closing my legs.

"Come on, Brianne." Ryan whined, pinning my arm down. "It's been months." He said, trying to lift up my shirt.

"Ryan, get off! Ryan, get off of me!" I yelled, kneeing him in the groin. He fell over on the bed, holding his crotch as he groaned in pain. "I hate you so much right now."

I grabbed my pillows and a blanket and went downstairs to sleep on the couch. I couldn't believe Ryan went out and got himself drunk, I'm so mad right now! In four weeks he's going to be a father and this is how he acts? That man makes my blood boil some days.

***************

I woke up the next morning and went into the kitchen to make myself something to eat. I settled for some toast and a bowl of cereal.

"Lover boy's awake." I said to myself as I heard the upstairs bathroom door open and close. A few minutes later Ryan came downstairs looking like hell.

"Morning." He croaked out, taking orange juice from the fridge.

"You were drunk last night." I said, taking a bite out of my toast.

"I know, I had a bit too much. We got carried away that's all."

"I texted you, Ryan. I had no idea where you were, had me scared to death."

"I'm sorry, it just happened." He apologized, pouring orange juice into a glass. I whipped my head up and stared at my husband like he spoke a foreign language.

"Getting drunk doesn't "just happen." You let it happen and you went too far with it, Ryan." I explained, getting up to put my empty cereal bowl in the sink.

The doorbell rang, grabbing my attention and I walked into the living room, opening the door to be face to face with AJ. He didn't look so well himself either.

"Don't you look like a ray of sunshine." I said, sarcastically. "What do you need?"

"I dropped Ryan's car off, he left it at my house." He said, holding up the keys.

"Well at least he wasn't that stupid to get behind the wheel." I said, snatching the keys out of AJ's hands. "Thanks." I shut the door, tossing Ryan's keys on the coffee table and went back into the kitchen.

"Who was at the door?"

"AJ, he dropped off your car. I know you weren't too stupid to drive back home."

"Shane stopped me and then I passed out on AJ's couch."

"We have a baby due in four weeks, you need to wise the hell up, Ryan."

"I told you I was sorry and it won't happen again."

"Right, because we'll have a baby to care for."

***************

Later in the day, I was cleaning around the house while Ryan rested on the couch.

"You know, I'm not so mad about you coming home drunk. I'm mad because you got drunk knowing you have a pregnant wife back home."

"I'm never drinking again." Ryan moaned, pulling the blanket over his head.

"I would hope so. AJ looked like complete hell and you look like you've been reincarnated into a rag." I said, lifting the blanket from Ryan's face. "But a very cute rag." I smiled, pinching Ryan's cheek.

"Go away." He said, swatting my hand away.

"I don't think you'll perish, so I'm going to fold up the baby's clothes." Ryan groaned, turning on his side. "I'll take that as an okay."

I went upstairs and went into the nursery and started to fold all the clothes I washed. Four weeks doesn't sound that long, but being pregnant for nine months it's now going to feel like a lifetime.
