Brianne's POV

Carson and I were being discharged from the hospital today and I couldn't wait to get home and start raising him with Ryan.

"Thank you." I said as the nurse wheeled us out to the front.

"You're welcome and good luck." She smiled.

I picked up Carson's carrier and walked over to the car when Ryan pulled the car up. I strapped Carson's carrier into the car and climbed in the backseat with him.

"Hi, Carson, hi." Ryan smiled, kissing his face a few times. This is the happiest I've seen Ryan in a long time. Ryan got back in the driver's seat and drove us back home to get this new adventure started.

We got home and the three of us walked into the house. I put Carson's carrier down and picked him up, walking around the house with him.

"Welcome home, Carson." Ryan said, smiling.

After making a lap around the whole house, I came into the living room where Ryan was sitting on the couch. I sat down next to him and he gently took Carson from me, holding him close to his body.

"I'm so happy." Ryan smiled, kissing Carson's head.

"Me too, we finally have our son." I said, playing with Carson's tiny hand. We put Carson in his bassinet in our room, turned on the baby monitor and relaxed on the couch.

"We're officially a family now." Ryan smiled, kissing my lips. "I love you, Brianne."

"I love you too, Ryan." We got up a few times throughout the day to feed and change Carson, but he slept most of the day.

At eleven, we finally decided to go to bed and cuddled up to each other in bed, quickly falling asleep.

***************

At midnight, we were woken up by Carson's cries.

"I got him." I said, getting up and picked up my crying son. "What's wrong, Carson?" I asked, bouncing him a bit. "Are you hungry?" I asked, feeling to make sure he wasn't wet, nope dry.

I carried him downstairs and warmed up a bottle I prepared earlier, trying to calm Carson while I waited. Finally, the bottle was warmed up and I tested it on my wrist before giving it to him. Carson finished the bottle and I placed it in the sink, going back upstairs and placed him back in the bassinet. I climbed back into bed and Ryan wrapped his arm around my waist.

At two, Carson started crying again and I got up, again. This time he needed his diaper changed so I went into the nursery and quickly changed his diaper, having a bit of practice at the hospital. I sat in the rocking chair that was in the corner and rocked him back to sleep.

I looked around the room and smiled at how it looked. Ryan had created a nursery for Carson but for the first few months he was going to be in our room for easier access. If he cries at night, it'll be easier for Ryan or I to get to him instead of rushing down the hall.

I loved how Ryan set this nursery up. The walls were painted a light blue and there was a white crib off in one of the corners with a moon and stars mobile hanging from it.

In the opposite corner was a white wooden rocking chair. Next to his crib was a changing table and dresser that held all of his clothes, nothing exciting about those. In the middle of the room was a blue and white rug that had elephants on it, that I felt tied the whole room together.

I looked down and saw Carson was asleep so I got up and walked back to our bedroom where Ryan was still asleep. I placed Carson down in the bassinet and got back in bed, hoping to get some more sleep.

***************

Thirty minutes later, he was crying again. I groaned, sitting up and rubbed my eyes.

"I'll get him." Ryan said, getting up and grabbing Carson from the bassinet. I turned over and went back to sleep. Ryan came back about ten minutes later and got back in bed.

It wasn't until four in the morning that Carson was crying again. Ryan got up again and tended to his needs before climbing back into bed.

"My mom wasn't joking." Ryan laughed, wrapping his arms around me. I nodded, curling into his body.

Luckily, Carson slept until about seven in the morning and from that point, we just decided to stay awake.

"Carson, you're killing me." Ryan laughed, picking up Carson from his changing table, holding him in his arms.

"Hey, we made it through the first night, the first night is always the hardest." I said, kissing his lips.

"That we did. I'll go get us some coffee." Ryan said, handing Carson to me and going to get dressed.

They made it through the first night!...barely lol
