Ryan's POV
I was hanging around the guys this afternoon while Brianne was off at work with a photo shoot. I had brought Carson with me and I noticed that Vinny was acting off, he barely acknowledged me. It was like I didn't even exist to him.
"What's up with him?" I whispered to Ricky.
"Dunno, he was fine up until you showed up with the baby." Ricky shrugged. I nodded my head and walked over to Vinny, motioning him to follow me into the kitchen so we could talk in private.
"What's up?" Vinny asked, folding his arms over his chest.
"You've been acting really weird, specifically towards me." I said, pointing at myself. "What is your deal?"
"Nothing, everything's fine." Vinny shook his head. He started to walk away from me, but I grabbed him on the shoulder and raised my eyebrow at him.
"You're one of my best friends, what's going on?"
"Well.." He started off. "Ever since Emilee announced she was pregnant, we just tried not to make it so obvious in front of you and Brianne ever since Brianne's miscarriage."
"I mean, it was going to be obvious sooner or later. Were you and Emilee just going to avoid Brianne and I for nine months?" I chuckled.
"No, I just didn't want this upsetting you two. I know how hurt you guys were and we didn't want to cause anymore grief."
"Brianne's okay now, Vinny and so am I." I reassured him, smiling. "Yeah, it was a very low point in our lives, but we got through it and we don't have any negative feelings towards you or Emilee. We're happy for you, Vinny and we can't wait to see the little guy or girl." I smiled again.
"Thanks, I appreciate that. Though, I have one question."
"What's that?"
"How is it being a dad?" Vinny asked, giving a small smile.
"It's awesome, it's a literal piece of your heart breathing and walking around." I said as I looked over at Carson being entertained by Justin. "I can't imagine a world without my son."
Carson was a piece of me and Brianne. I was forever grateful the day Brianne told me she was pregnant with him, I for sure thought that we would never have a child of our own. The day Carson was born was like my birthday and Christmas Day combined, the day my life was forever changed in the best possible way.
"I feel like I'm going to screw up." Vinny admitted.
"Every first time mom and dad has had that thought, I know I did. Being a dad won't be easy, Vinny, but I'm telling you that it's definitely worth it." I explained.
"Ryan, come get your kid! Help!" Justin yelled from the living room. I shook my head, laughing and picked Carson off of our bassist, who was laying on the floor in the fetal position.
"What did he do?"
"He accidentally got Justin in the jewels." Chris laughed.
"Ow, I'm so sorry." I apologized to Justin.
"Don't...worry, he didn't..mean to, ugh." He groaned, holding up his hand.
Okay, maybe this wasn't a perfect example to telling Vinny being a dad is totally worth it.
***************
"Just stay little forever." Brianne smiled, giggling at Carson. "You are my handsome, handsome boy."
"Well I try to look my best." I teased, walking into our bedroom. Brianne looked up at me and rolled her eyes, laughing.
"I was talking to our son, smart ass."
"You used to call me handsome, not anymore."
"You have a dad body now, Ryan."
"Did you just imply that I'm fat?" I scoffed, pretending to be hurt. "You don't think I'm handsome and you basically called me fat."
"Oh my..Ryan." Brianne sighed, chuckling after. "I'm going to put him to bed." She got up and took Carson out, returning shortly by herself. "I never implied that you were fat."
"Oh, babe, I was kidding with you. So how was work today?" I asked as she got into the bed with me. She groaned and put one of the pillows over her face. "That bad, huh?"
"If one more person bitches at me.." Brianne said, removing the pillow. "Lights out for them." She sighed.
"Call me crazy.."
"I already do." She giggled, tapping my head.
"I was thinking, the band is already finished with this album, so I have time to be home.."
"What are you getting at?" Brianne asked, cocking her head at me.
"I've noticed you've been stressed with work a lot as of late, why don't we take a vacation somewhere?" I suggested.
"You know I want to, but what about Carson and work?"
Of course I knew I'd hit this road block.
"You need a vacation, sweetie, since your miscarriage you've been putting too much work on yourself. You need to stop and take a breather, a few days to yourself..and me." I smiled, trying to cheer her up.
"I don't want to leave Carson though." She pouted.
"I know you don't, I don't either, but my mom or your dad could keep an eye on him while we're away. Think of this as like our second honeymoon, just the two of us."
"I don't know."
"Please? Please? Please? Please?"
"Okay, okay!" Brianne laughed, putting her hand over my mouth. "I'll go as long as you shut up."
"Deal." I smiled, kissing her cheek.
Okay, I got my wife to agree to a vacation, now where the hell do we go?
