I was sitting at my desk working on some last-minute photos before we went to Florida when my phone started ringing. I looked down and saw that it was Ryan calling, strange but alright.
"Hello?"
"You are not going to believe what our son just did!" Ryan freaked out on the other end of the phone.
Every worst thought went running through my head considering I left Carson in Ryan's care while I'm at work. Did he fall and get hurt? Did he break something of ours?
"What did he do?"
"Well, we're in his room playing around with his cars and whatnot, I get up because I need to use the bathroom. I walked away for two seconds, two seconds and as I'm standing there Carson opened the door with no diaper and his pants around his ankles, holds up his hands, and says "poop." "
This lovely perk of parenthood is something they do not mention anywhere in the books, nor does anyone give you any type of advice for this situation.
"Okay, and you cleaned him off?"
"Yes but that's not the worst part! After I wipe off his hands, I go back into the room and he has it smeared all over the walls!"
"Oh..my..god."
Emilee looked over at me with a confused look. I raised my index finger indicating I'd explain as soon as I'd get off the phone with Ryan.
"The funny part while trying to clean up his room is him waddling around like a damn penguin."
"And you didn't think to pull his pants up after you washed his hands?"
"He pulled them back down!"
"I'm nearly done with work." I sighed. "I'll ask more about it when I get home." I hung up the phone and threw my head back groaning.
"Problems at home?"
"At this rate, I'm going to need a babysitter to watch both my husband and son. Carson took it upon himself to tear off his diaper and make a mess. This is going to get worse before it can get better, I swear."
"Just pray to whoever that he doesn't destroy the hotel room at Disney next month."
At this point, I'm internally screaming.
**********
I got home and saw Ryan was sitting on the couch with Carson, the both of them engulfed in watching Inside Out.
"I'm home," I said walking further into the living room. "I heard you had an eventful day." I chuckled, leaning down to give Ryan and Carson a peck on their cheeks.
"I cannot take diapers no more," Ryan said.
"Well then we'll just have to start on potty training, I'm sure it's about time to start making that transition."
"Let's start after his birthday because today was so traumatic I think I'm scarred for life now."
"Says the man who wants more children." I laughed walking into the kitchen to make myself some food.
"Yeah well, this time I hope we get a girl!"
Sorry, it's so short! I needed a filler!
