Brianne's POV

I smiled down at Carson as he slept away in his crib, so peaceful. I sighed, closing my eyes as I felt a hand touch my shoulder.

"Ryan, I don't want to leave him." I whispered, opening my eyes.

"Bri.." Ryan said, turning me to face him. "We both know you need this vacation, my mom's downstairs."

It was almost five in the morning, Ryan and I were headed out to the airport to travel down to Florida where our cruise ship's loading port was at. He insisted that I needed this vacation, and telling Ryan no doesn't come easy.

I lightly kissed Carson on the forehead and walked out of his room, going down the steps to see Ryan giving his mother a list of things for the baby. I picked up my shoulder bag and headed towards the front door, thanking Ryan's mother for watching our son.

"Have fun you two." She smiled, as we walked out the door. Ryan loaded our bags into the car and we got in, pulling out of the driveway. I sighed once again as I saw our house become distant from my sight.

"Please don't be mopey, Brianne." Ryan said, keeping his gaze on the morning traffic.

"Ryan, I've never been away from Carson for nearly two weeks. What if he gets sick or something?"

"He'll be okay." Ryan reassured me, placing his hand on mine. "If anything happens, we both know he's in good hands with my mom and she'll call us. Also, it's not like we can't call back to the house to see how things are."

"I'm just going to miss him that's all."

"Don't worry." Ryan lightly smiled at me.

***************

We made it to our port in Florida, boarding the cruise ship and got settled in our room. I walked over to the small window and opened the curtains, getting a nice view of the ocean. I sat down on the bed, continuing to look out the window with a small smile on my face.

"Hey, I just remembered-" Ryan began.

"-I feel sick." I immediately stood up and rushed into the bathroom, slamming the door behind me.

"You've never been on a ship before." Ryan said, coming up behind me. He pulled my hair back as I heaved into the small toilet, feeling my stomach twist and turn. "Don't worry, I brought the anti nausea medicine."

I groaned, flushing the toilet and went over to the sink, rinsing and wiping my mouth. I came out of the bathroom and laid down on the bed as Ryan handed me one of the small anti nausea pills. I placed it on my tongue and let it slowly dissolve, hopefully we packed a good supply of these things.

"I can't believe we just got here and I'm puking."

"It happens, and you'll get used to it after a few days." Ryan smiled, rubbing my leg. "You rest for a little and I'll unpack our stuff." I nodded my head and watched as Ryan unloaded our bags, placing our stuff in the appropriate drawers.

"Do you think the baby's okay?"

"Carson's fine."

"But imagine, you wake up and you don't see your parents anywhere in the house, he must be so confused right now." I frowned, picking at a random string on my shirt.

"Are you going to harp about being away from the baby the entire cruise?" Ryan asked, stopping to look over at me.

"Ryan.."

"Brianne, he's fine and he's with my mom. I already told you in the car that if anything happens, she'll call us and we can call her." Ryan came over and sat beside me, sighing. "Brianne, I brought you on this vacation so we could have time to ourselves and relax, not stress about Carson every thirty seconds."

"But, Ryan, I-"

"No buts about it. I understand you've never been away from him this long, trust me. How do you think I feel when I leave for tour? And I'm gone for months."

"He needs his mother."

"And he'll get her when she comes back from a very expensive cruise that his father paid for, come on, Brianne."

"I never told you to do this in the first place, Ryan. You came up with this idea all on your own." I said, sitting up.

"Because I had some time to spend time with you now that this album is finished, because you know I'm going to tour soon and you needed a break from work, so excuse me for trying to be a good husband to you." Ryan raised his voice, getting off the bed. "Also, you did agree to this, so there ya go." He smirked.

I clenched my fist and got up, wobbling towards the door. I closed my eyes and regained my balance and opened the door, going out into the hallway and slammed the door behind me. I walked down the hallway and made my way out to the deck, sitting down on a nearby bench.

"Can't believe we haven't even been on this ship for a day and he's already on my damn nerves." I muttered.

"Husband?" I looked up and saw a guy around the same age as me and Ryan. He was tall with dark blonde hair, wearing a white Polo shirt and tan khakis with checkered Vans.

"I'm sorry?" I asked, raising my eyebrow.

"I couldn't help listening but, you sound like you're pretty pissed and I take it by the engagement ring and wedding band on your finger there, I'd say it's your husband."

"Well aren't you the genius." I said, folding my arms over my chest. "Look, I'm not here to be wooed by whatever charm you're trying to give me, so please go."

"If it makes you feel any better, I'll let you tell your story and I'll take your side."

"I don't even know you."

"Austin." He smiled.

"My husband thinks I'm going to harp on leaving our son for almost two weeks. In all honesty, I've never been away from him like this, he's my only baby." I sighed, looking down at my feet.

"I get where you're coming from, believe me." Austin said, sitting in a nearby chair next to me. "My wife and I have two kids ourselves, first vacation we took after having our daughter was like pulling teeth from her."

"So you think I'm in the wrong?"

"No, I'm saying it's not uncommon for a first time parent to feel a little uneasy leaving their kid for awhile, what's your son's name?" Austin smiled.

"Carson."

"Who's watching Carson?"

"My mother-in-law."

"Carson's going to be fine and I'm sure his grandma loves getting to spend the extra time with him."

"I guess I should go apologize to my husband." I chuckled.

"I'm sure he'll understand and knows you're just looking out for your son."

"Yeah." I agreed, nodding my head. "Thanks for letting me vent a little there and giving me some advice."

"Don't mention it."

I waved goodbye and walked back inside the ship, going down the same hallway again. I stood outside mine and Ryan's room door and lightly knocked on it.

"Housekeeping." I teased, opening the door.

"I don't want to fight." Ryan spoke up.

"I don't want to fight either, I was actually coming back to apologize." I said, shutting the door behind me. "I'm sorry I was snarky with you."

"And?"

"And what? I'm sorry, Ryan."

"Admit that I was right, you wanted this vacation just as bad as I did." Ryan smirked, putting his arms over his chest.

"Alright, you were right, I was wrong. This was a very generous, kind gesture for you to do for us, Ryan, I mean it." Ryan bowed, thanking an invisible audience in front of him. I rolled my eyes and sat down on the edge of the bed. "Are you done?"

"Oh I wish someone recorded that." He laughed.

"You're going to hold me admitting you were right over my head for a long time, correct?"

"Bingo!"

I hope we're close by shark infested waters.
