Brianne's POV

I walked into work the next morning and avoided eye contact with Emilee. Who knows how she'll react to this news.

"Good morning all!" Matt smiled, walking into the studio. He needs to bring the happy down to a one, not keep it at a thousand.

"Morning." We replied.

"How was the doctor's yesterday, Bri?" Emilee asked. It felt like a horse just kicked me right in the chest.

"I'm in good health, thanks for asking." I smiled.

"That's good."

I'm going to feel like a terrible friend, but I don't think I'll be able to tell Emilee I'm expecting. Or maybe she already knows? What if Ryan mentioned it to Vinny and he said something to her and that's why she asked about my appointment?

"How's Vinny?"

"Good. Out like a light when I left for work."

Maybe Ryan hasn't said anything yet? Better text him to make sure or just remind him not to.

Brianne: You're still asleep but don't say anything about the baby yet

I looked up from my phone and saw Emilee giving me a weird look. I smiled at her and started to work with some edits I had.

***************

In the afternoon, Matt and Emilee ordered Chinese take out for lunch and the smell was just awful.

"Brianne, you hungry?" Matt asked, eating a forkful of rice.

"No." I shook my head, covering my mouth. I'm on the verge of puking my guts out right now.

"You love Chinese food." Emilee replied. "I've never seen you pass up Chinese before."

"I'm just not hungry." I lied. My phone lit up and I saw Ryan replied to my text.

Ryan: I think it's too soon to tell her, my mouth is shut

Brianne: Ryan don't open your mouth..please I am begging you

Ryan: Scouts honor

"Are you okay?" Matt asked.

"Yeah."

"You sure?"

"Yes, I just need to get this work done."

Emilee and Matt just shrugged their shoulders and continued to eat their lunch. I went back to my laptop and tried to concentrate on my work.

***************

Matt had gone home, so now it was Emilee and myself closing up the studio.

"You sure you're okay? You were pretty quiet today."

"Yeah." I said, putting away equipment in the back.

"Are you and Ryan okay?"

"Yes."

"I'm just worried about you. Have you guys said anything more about trying for a baby now that you're healed?"

"Uh, yeah, we might try tonight." I lied.

"I really hope you guys have a baby soon. I know how bad you guys want to start a family." Emilee smiled.

Little does she know our family is already starting.

"Yeah, we really want a baby. So I'll see you on Monday?"

"Yeah." Emilee smiled.

I closed and locked the door behind us and went our separate ways. I feel terrible for not telling Emilee about the baby. We promised each other years ago that if one of us got pregnant, we'd immediately tell the other. Why am I being such a coward?

I got home and walked through the front door, putting my things on the floor. Ryan came down the steps, smiling at me and placed a quick kiss on my lips.

"How was work?" He asked, sitting on the couch.

"I couldn't do it."

"What?"

"I couldn't mention my pregnancy to Emilee."

"You said it's too soon to tell her."

"I did, but I was pretty close to almost saying it before we left the studio." I groaned, sitting on the couch. "I don't know what to do."

"Why don't we wait to tell people after your first appointment? We'll only tell our families and then tell our friends."

"Your family has the guys on certain friends lists, what if they make a post?"

"I'll tell them to not announce it on social media."

I sighed, looking at Ryan. "Okay."
