December

I was decorating our house when the front door opened and closed, Ryan walking in with snow covering his beanie.

"Cold enough out there for you?" I giggled. Ryan gave me the middle finger and took off his coat, sitting on the couch. "That's how I ended up pregnant."

"Shouldn't you be off your feet?"

"Yeah, but the house needs decorated and if you do it I'm not driving your ass to the emergency room in a snow storm."

"Your belly would make that task hard."

"Exactly, so don't move, don't even blink." I told Ryan.

"Okay then, I'm going to play video games." He got up and walked to the den, closing the door.

I shook my head, smiling and continued with decorating our house. A few seconds later, just as I was stringing lights on the Christmas tree our power went out.

"What the fuck?!" I heard Ryan yell. "What the fuck!" He came out from the den, stomping his feet.

"Here we go." I said, putting the decorations down. I went to the closet in the hallway and pulled out a box of candles, matches and some flashlights.

"Brianne?" Ryan called out for me.

"I'm in the hallway." I started walking back to the living room and turned on the flashlight. "Ahh!" Ryan and I screamed, bumping into each other.

"Oh my god." Ryan breathed out, holding his chest. "You okay?"

"I think you just blew my ear drum out, ow." I said, shaking my head. "Just go light some candles and be careful, please."

I carefully made my way over to the couch and sat down, opening the curtain to see the street covered in snow.

"Man, it's really coming down." I said. "Ryan, I want to move."

"What?" He questioned, coming back into the living room.

"I'm tired of Pennsylvania and the snow."

"Where do you suggest we go?" Ryan asked, sitting next to me.

"A place with no snow."

"So places with hurricanes and tsunamis?"

"Don't act like you don't bitch about the snow either."

"Well hopefully this shit will settle when the baby arrives."

Hopefully.

Two hours had passed and we were still without power.

"I'm freezing." Ryan shivered underneath the blankets.

"Go grab the quilts from the bedroom." I said. Ryan stood up and walked upstairs, coming back down shortly with our bedding. He sat down on the couch and put the blankets over us, cuddling into my side.

"This is nice." Ryan smiled, resting his head on my shoulder. "Cozy with my wife."

"I have to pee." I said, getting up and walking to the bathroom.

"And that moment's ruined." I heard Ryan say. I did my business, washing my hands and came back out to rejoin Ryan.

"Well excuse me for using the bathroom. Your son makes me go like every twenty minutes, don't blame me." I laughed, sitting next to him.

"What are we going to name him? Now that we know we're having a boy."

"Gregory?"

"You mean after your dad?"

"Yeah, but then I want something that fits him. I don't think Gregory Sitkowski sounds good. Like I said, he'll arrive and we still won't have a name." I sighed.

"Carson."

"What?"

"Let's name him Carson." Ryan smiled. "Does it sound good?"

"Yeah, but he needs a middle name."

"Alexander. Carson Alexander Sitkowski."

"That's actually a good name, Ryan. I like it." I nodded.

"Baby Carson."

The living room lit back up, making both Ryan and I sigh out of relief. I turned off the flashlights while Ryan blew out the candles.

"I'm so glad the power is back."

"So you can finish your game?"

"It's a game. I'll help finish decorating and whatnot." Ryan said, picking up the Christmas tree lights.

"Hey, Ryan?" I asked, looking at him.

"Sup?"

"I love you." I smiled.

"I love you too." He smiled back at me.

Only a few more weeks to go and we'll be a family of three. December will go by quickly, then January and before I know it, Carson will be here. My life couldn't have been more perfect.

What do you guys think of the name Ryan came up with?
