Brianne's POV

"How could I have been so stupid, Ryan?" I questioned, looking at my baby in his incubator. "I could've killed him."

"But you didn't." Ryan said, putting an arm around my shoulder. I sighed, turning away from the unit's window and headed back to the elevator.

"I could've."

"But you didn't, Brianne. You were getting yourselves out, that damn smoke is the only thing that stopped you. Chris got you out though." He said, getting on the elevator with me.

"We should be dead."

"But you're not, and I'm thankful for that. I'm extremely thankful to Chris for saving your lives. Do you know how lost I would be if something happened to you and Carson? I'd shoot myself."

"Don't talk like that." I said, looking up at Ryan.

"Well it's true." We got off the elevator and returned back to my room. I sat on the edge of my bed and sighed.

"My dad and I heard you confront Chris yesterday."

"I didn't think that's all."

"Why do you hate him?" I asked.

"You know why and that's now in the past. I apologized to Chris and he accepted my apology."

"But why do you think I'd ever go for Chris?"

"Let's face it, he was charming you that night when you and the girls came down to Maryland." I laughed at Ryan's stupid response.

"He wasn't charming me, Chris is a friend. Yeah, I was highly upset with you that week, but I wouldn't go after Chris to make you jealous or even date. It's strictly platonic with him and he respects that, especially now since we're married and have a baby."

"Well what about that night at the hotel?"

"Things needed to be cleared up with Chris before I talked to you."

"I know he accepted my apology and I said everything between me and him is in the past, but I just feel like he's up to something."

"Ryan, get over it already." I sighed, crossing my arms. "Chris is smart to not destroy a marriage or break up a family."

"Hmph." Ryan said, playing with the hem of his shirt.

"You're paranoid over nothing. If you think Chris is such a terrible person and wants to break our marriage up, then why did he have a gift for Carson? Why did he accept your apology? Better yet, why did he risk his life to save your wife and son? I thought we were really past this after the incident at the hotel, but we're not, you're still acting ridiculous, Ryan." I sighed, placing my hand over my chest.

"Brianne, you're my wife." Ryan said, sitting beside me. "I really thought I was going to lose you that week I flipped on you and I honestly thought Chris was going to take you. It's happened before."

"Chris stole your girlfriends?"

"No, but other guys in the past did. I wasn't going to lose you to Chris and now that he was like the knight in shining armor, you'll really swoon."

"Ryan." I said, resting my head on his shoulder. "I don't want anyone but you. Do you know how many times I wanna thank your mom for booking me for Alli's photos? A thousand times! You're my best friend and I get to spend the rest of my life with you, Ryan. You're a wonderful husband and an amazing father. I'd be stupid to fall for some other guy." I smiled, looking at him. "You might be an idiot some days, but you're my idiot and I love you." I said, kissing his cheek.

"How can you put up with me?" Ryan asked, smiling back at me.

"I've grown used to it, I'm immune." I chuckled.

"I love you."

"You're my knight in shining armor, Mr. Sitkowski."

"My perfect damsel in distress." Ryan laughed, placing his hand on mine.

Everything's going to be A okay now.
