September
Today Ryan, myself and Jaime were at my doctor's, waiting in the exam room. Jaime gets to find out from my doctor if Ryan and I are having a boy or a girl, since she insisted helping us throw our gender reveal.
"Hello." My doctor smiled as she walked in. "Let's get started and check your baby."
She brought over the machine, lifting up my shirt and squirted a cold gel on my swollen stomach. She put the transducer to my skin and began moving it around, our baby appearing on the small black and white screen.
"Awe! So cute." Jaime smiled at the screen.
"Definitely has Ryan's nose." I said, looking at a close up of the baby's face.
"Ten fingers and toes, heartbeat sounds nice and strong. You guys got yourselves a very healthy baby." My doctor smiled. "So, who gets to know the gender?"
"That would be me." Jaime raised her hand, smiling.
My doctor examined the baby a bit more, typing on the small keyboard and printed a picture. She put the picture in a white envelope and handed it over to Jaime.
"Guard that with your life. Try to make sure this one over here don't try to find out." I said, motioning to Ryan.
"I'll keep it where no one, except me knows where it's at." Jaime smiled.
***************
"I really wanna know what you are." Ryan said, resting his head on my stomach.
"You'll find out in a few days." I said, running my fingers through his hair. "All that matters is they're healthy, that makes me happy."
"I don't care if you're a boy or a girl. I just hope you look up to me and your mother and love us no matter what."
I smiled down at Ryan. "I know you really want a girl."
"Is that bad?"
"Yes and no. Yes because I know you're going to spoil the hell out of her and no because she's going to see you as a king, just like I do."
"You bet I will definitely spoil both my girls." Ryan said, lightly kissing my stomach.
"We're in so much trouble if we have a daughter."
"Why would we?" Ryan asked, picking his head up.
"Boys."
"Not until she's eighteen."
"You know damn well that's not going to sit right with a teenage girl."
"If she shows me that I can trust her and shows good judgement, I won't be one of those dad's. Yes, I'll protect her, but I won't become so overbearing she can't stand me and rebel."
"You say that now. You've never dealt with a teenage girl, you have no idea."
"Hey, I watched out for my sister." I nodded my head, agreeing.
"True, but I think it'll be real different with your daughter, Ryan."
"Boy or girl." Ryan yawned. "I'll always be there for them no matter what." He wrapped his arm around my waist, resting his head on my shoulder.
"You already make a good dad." I smiled.
"Thank you, thank you. Though you're already a fantastic mommy."
"I try my best."
"No need."
***************
At two in the morning, I woke up and saw Ryan fast asleep in the bed. I walked into the bathroom, doing my business and headed downstairs to the kitchen.
I opened up the pantry and took out a package of Oreos and then went over to the fridge, taking out a small container of cottage cheese I bought. I put my cottage cheese in a small bowl and then crumbled a few cookies on top.
Normally, I would think that's disgusting, but I'm pregnant and whatever I crave, I eat. Just like the other day, I almost made Ryan puke because I was eating mac n cheese with bleu cheese salad dressing.
"You make me want the weirdest things, but I still love you." I giggled, digging into my food.
"What in the hell are you eating?" I turned around and saw Ryan standing there with a disgusted look on his face.
"Food."
"That's not food, the cookies..yes, together no."
"Why are you awake?"
"I needed to use the bathroom and couldn't fall back asleep."
"Anything on your mind?" I asked. Ryan scratched the back of his neck and looked at me.
"Are you going to be okay when I leave for this tour in a few weeks?"
"Ryan." I sighed. "I'll be fine."
"I'm just worried."
"I know you are." I smiled slightly. "But do you remember what I told you when we found out I was pregnant?"
"Sort of."
"I said everything will be fine because I have my dad, Jaime and your sister around, your mom too. If I don't feel right, I'll call my doctor and go to the hospital."
"I need a manual for all this."
"Well they have plenty of books for that at Barnes and Noble." I said, eating more of my late night snack.
"You know what the three decisions I'm proud of in my life?" Ryan asked.
"What?"
"Asking you to be my girlfriend, marrying you and finally getting you pregnant."
"Jeez, Ryan!"
"Hey, it's the truth."
"Well I saw it more as a goal."
"And the mission was completed." Ryan chuckled.
"Oh god."
"I'm going back to bed, coming up?" He asked. I nodded my head and ate the last two bites of my snack, putting the bowl in the sink and followed Ryan upstairs.
"I love you." I smiled, kissing Ryan's cheek once we climbed back in bed.
"I love you too." He replied. "And you as well." Ryan smiled, rubbing my stomach.
I have a feeling Ryan is going to drive the guys crazy while they're on tour.
