Brianne's POV

I went back to work a few days later even though Ryan insisted I stay home a bit longer, but business is business. I reassured him and said that I'll be okay and if I have to I'll come home early.

Matt and Emilee knew about the miscarriage and they both knew I wasn't going to push my body or my mental health to the breaking point.

I walked into work and lightly smiled when Matt waved to me with a small smile on his face. I waved back and sat down at my desk and took out my laptop and camera and got started with the work day. Emilee came in twenty minutes after and didn't say a word to anyone and sat down at her desk.

"You okay?" Matt asked, raising an eyebrow over at me.

"I'm fine. I just have a lot of work to catch up on right now." Emilee replied, putting her headphones on. Matt looked back over at me and I just shrugged my shoulders, logging onto my laptop.

Later in the afternoon, Matt had left the studio to grab our lunch, leaving me and Emilee alone. Maybe she was uncertain how to act or what to say around me after hearing about my unfortunate news.

"Are you sure you're okay? You've barely said anything all day, expect for your lunch order."

"I'm fine, really." Emilee smiled over at me.

"You're pregnant."

"What? No, I'm not!" Emilee freaked out.

"Distant all morning, not to mention a few minutes behind Matt coming in this morning, you're pregnant." I said, folding my arms over my chest.

"How did you know?" Emilee confessed, sighing after.

"Well I did have a baby last year." I chuckled. "When did you find out?"

"A few weeks after Valentine's Day, you're not mad are you?" Emilee asked, fidgeting with her fingers.

"No, I'm happy for you. Does Vinny know this time?"

"He was there when I took the test so, yes."

"I'm happy for you, Emilee, really." I smiled. Though I felt a small pang in my chest when I told her that.

I am happy for my best friend, she deserves all the happiness in the world, but her pregnancy just came at the worst possible time for me and Ryan.

***************

I was back home later in the evening, bathing Carson when I heard Ryan come in through the front door. I took Carson out of the tub, wrapping him in a fluffy white towel and walked into his nursery.

"Brianne?" I heard Ryan call for me.

"Nursery."

Ryan came up and smiled, walking into to kiss me on the cheek. He sat down in the nearby rocking chair and observed as I dressed Carson for bed.

"So Emilee's pregnant." Ryan sighed.

"I know, she told me at work." I said, placing Carson in his crib. "Well I kind of guessed it."

"How are you feeling about this? I mean, she's pregnant around the same time we-"

"I'm okay about it, really." I reassured Ryan, walking out of the nursery.

"Well you have to be feeling some sort of way about it, right?" Ryan asked, following me into our bedroom.

"How am I supposed to feel?"

"I don't know, hurt? Upset?"

"So you want me to be depressed?"

"Yeah-no! You're taking Emilee's news better than I thought you would."

"Oh thanks, Ryan." I said, rolling my eyes. "I'm a tad bit sad, but I'm not going to let that ruin my life. I'm happy for our friends and they deserve this." I smiled.

"I didn't mean that I wanted you to be upset over this." Ryan apologized, scratching the back of his neck.

"I know you didn't." I smiled at Ryan. "You know you can say some dumb stuff at the wrong time, but I love you."

Ryan chuckled and smiled back at me. "Yeah I know, I love you too." He leaned forward and pressed his lips to my forehead. "Forever and ever."
