Chapter 4

Later...

Riker POV

The bell rang, so I was going to head to the bathroom for lunch, but before I could, Kelsey called me over. She was standing at her locker.

"Do you have lunch right now?" Kelsey asked.

"Um... Yeah, why?"

"How about we talk about the project?"

"Oh... Ok."

I followed Kelsey to the cafeteria. She found an empty table in the back for us to sit at. My heart was starting to race a little because I was scared Wyatt would show up and make fun of me in front of her. I'm embarrassed enough already because I told her I wasn't good at math.

I sat down beside her, and she took out the drawing of the board and our rules.

"Are you ok?"

I looked up at her.

"Yeah."

"Are you sure? You look a bit pale."

"I'm ok."

I was starting to sweat a little and my hands were shaking slightly. I know it's only a matter of time before Wyatt comes looking for me.

"Riker?"

"What?"

"Are you sure you're ok? You look a bit sick."

"I... I just... I need to go," I said, standing up.

"Riker, wait!"

She grabbed my hand.

"What's wrong?"

I slowly sat down.

"It's just that... I usually get bullied, and I'm just scared my bully is going to come and find me in here."

"Who's your bully?"

"Wyatt..."

"Don't worry about it, Riker. If he comes to bully you, I'll deal with it, ok?"

"Really?"

"Really. Don't worry about it. Let's keep working on the project, ok?"

I couldn't concentrate on the project. I just kept watching the door for Wyatt. And then I saw him.

"H-he's here!" I stuttered.

"It's ok. If he comes over here, just stay calm."

Sure enough, he came walking over.

"Lynch."

I shrunk down beside Kelsey.

"How are you today? Fail anything?" Wyatt asked.

"No he didn't. Did you?" Kelsey asked.

He gave her a look.

"Whatever," he said, walking away.

"See? You're ok," Kelsey said, putting her arm around me.

I sighed in relief.

"Does he bully you every day?"

"Yeah, pretty much."

"How do you deal with it?"

"I just hide in the bathrooms usually," I said, feeling embarrassed.

"What are you doing tonight?"

"Just homework."

"Do you want to come over tonight?"
