Chapter 33
Later...
Riker POV
I woke up, probably because I went to bed so early. I looked at the clock. It was about midnight. Rocky had his arms wrapped around me tight, and he was fast asleep.
"Rocky," I whined, shaking him.
"Hmm? Are you ok?"
"I'm hungry."
"Let's go get you a snack then."
Rocky took my hand and we snuck downstairs in the dark.
"Are you feeling any better from earlier?"
"Yeah..."
"That was kind of crazy..."
Rocky turned on the kitchen light.
"What do you want?" Rocky asked.
"Toast?"
"Ok. Sit down. I'll make you some."
I sat down at the table.
"I don't know what happened earlier," I mumbled.
"I think it's just your depression."
"You don't sound surprised about it."
"Because I'm just used to it now. I'm used to you being unpredictable and your moods changing quickly."
Rocky brought over 2 plates of toast and sat down across from me.
"I'm scared," I said, quietly.
"Why?"
"Because I thought I was doing better. I literally talked to Kelsey about feeling better, and then all of that happened..."
"Rik, you'll have ups and downs. It's just how depression is. And mom said she was making you a doctor's appointment. She'll make sure you get better help this time."
I started eating my toast.
"I'm glad you're calmer now though," Rocky said.
"Me too... I feel like I'm setting such a bad example for everyone. You're acting like the big brother of the family."
"I'm just taking care of you, Riker."
"Well... Thanks. I really appreciate it."
"Of course, Rik."
Rocky and I finished our toast and then went back up to bed.
Later...
Riker POV
I don't know how mom was able to make me an appointment literally the next day from when she called, but here I am, at the doctor's, sitting on paper. I hate this stuff. It makes me feel like I'm sick.
I wasn't really paying attention to anything going on. Mom was having a long conversation with my doctor. I was getting a prescription for medication and I'm going to a therapist, so...
I just want to feel better already. I almost don't care what I have to do anymore, as long as I'll be able to be happy again.
I've felt pretty normal today. Nothing like I felt last night.
"Riker, does that sound good?" Mom asked.
"What?"
"Medication and a therapist. Your doctor gave a few therapist suggestions, so if you don't like one, you can try switching until you find one you like."
