Chapter 16

Later...

Riker POV

When I woke up, Kelsey was gone. I was all alone on the couch.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I'm so sleepy.

And then I saw Lucas in the kitchen.

"Lucas?" I asked.

"What?"

"Where's Kelsey?"

"She just threw up. Looks like she caught the same thing you have."

I instantly felt super guilty.

Kelsey came walking over to me and she sat down.

"You don't feel good?" I asked.

"Nope."

She laid her head on my shoulder and clung onto my arm.

"I'm sorry I got you sick."

"It's fine, Riker. These things only last a day or two."

"I want snuggles."

I laid down and Kelsey laid down beside me. I wrapped my arms around her tightly. We both barely fit on the couch together.

"I feel so bad I got you sick."

"Don't feel bad. Let's just rest so we can feel better soon."

Later...

Riker POV

The good news was that my tummy finally wasn't hurting so bad anymore. It still hurt a tiny bit, but way less than before.

The bad news was that Kelsey was feeling worse. We were sitting on the floor now instead of the couch. Kelsey said it was easier to throw up in the garbage if she was sitting on the floor, so I was sitting next to her.

We were still watching movies. But Kelsey was the one laying down, and I was the one giving back rubs. I guess it's usually the other way around.

Lucas was also in the living room with us. He was kind of just watching over us I guess. He was slightly concerned, and he kept getting us medicine when we needed more. He was making sure we stayed hydrated too, and kept bringing us water. I guess being the son of two doctors is helpful in situations like this. He knows how to take care of us.

Kelsey had her head in my lap. I was almost wondering if she was asleep or not.

"Are you guys getting hungry for dinner?" Lucas asked.

"No. I don't feel good," Kelsey said.

"What about you, Riker?"

"Um... I guess I'm a little hungry."

"How about we try some more toast, and if you still feel good after the toast, I'll give you something else."

"Sounds good," I said, smiling a little.

Kelsey turned to lay on her back. And she was looking up at me now.

"Are you sure you want to stay here even though you don't feel good?" She asked.

"Of course I do. I'd rather be here than home."

"Would your family take care of you?"

"My mom and my sister would. But my brothers would make fun of me."

"Why?"

"They say I get too sensitive when I'm sick."

"Whatever. They're just trying to act tough. I like you how you are."

I blushed a little. Kelsey took my hand in hers and squeezed it tight.

"I wish we could play in the snow," Kelsey said.

"Why?"

"Because you said you like snow."

"Oh... Well maybe tomorrow we can if you feel better."

Lucas came in with a piece of toast for me. As soon as I took a few bites, my appetite came back completely.

"Feeling better?" Lucas asked.

"Yeah."

"Do you want anything else to eat?"

"Yes, please."

"What would you like?"

"Could I have soup?"

"Sure."

Lucas left again.

"Your brother is so nice. I wish my brothers were nice like him."

"What do they do?"

"They just pick on me and stuff."

Kelsey sat up and leaned her head on my shoulder instead. She still had my hand in hers. I pulled a blanket over our laps.

"How are you feeling?" I asked.

"Probably the same as you felt this morning."

"Aw... I feel so bad. I'm sorry."

"Stop saying that. It's ok."

"I feel terrible though."

"Don't. You got me sick, so what?"

I dropped her hand and wrapped my arms around her.

"I'm taking care of you until you're better then," I said, resting my chin on her shoulder.

"Deal."

Lucas brought me a bowl of soup. After a few bites, Kelsey stole my spoon and started eating my soup. So Lucas got me another spoon and we just shared it. I was glad she was eating because hopefully that means she's feeling better. I just hope she doesn't throw it up because throwing up is horrible.

A/N : I have been writing a stupid research paper all week, and I have an english essay to write by tomorrow night. It was nice to take a break and just write about Riker for a little bit. Also, it snowed for the first time this season today, and my parents didn't wake me up so I totally missed it!
