A Struggle

I don't know how long I was out for, and I frankly don't give a damn. I'd rather be unconscious, then be able to see what I was doing because of Okuri. It was terrifying actually, I wasn't able to move or see. But I know I felt my body moving, and I wasn't the one moving it.

This darkness was just so familiar to me, I might as well call it a second home. Yet, there was a bright light that grew brighter and brighter by the second. I didn't know what it was, but I figured going towards it would be better than just doing nothing.

So I went towards it, I found it difficult though. It was as if my consciousness was frozen in this one spot, and if I even tried to move, I'd just break apart. I didn't care, I don't want to be here anymore.

I tried desperately to pull myself from this place, and I did somehow. But as I looked around, it was too bright to see at the moment. I let my eyes adjust to my new surroundings, and I now found myself lying on my back and staring up at the ceiling.

I tried to sit up to see where I was, but I let out a hiss as white hot pain spread through my right leg. I weakly propped myself up on my elbows and looked down at myself, and was quite surprised at the sight.

My chest was wrapped with bandages, I could see there was scratches across my skin, and to top it off, my right leg was wrapped up with even more bandages and it looked like there was a splint around my leg.

Did I...break my leg?

What the hell did I do last night?

I lowered myself back to the soft mattress I saw I was laying on, and let out a loud sigh. My head was killing me as well, it felt like my head was repeatedly being bashed against a wall. I let my eyes close, I really want to sleep, but I know I won't be able to because of my leg. It also didn't help that I felt nausea settling in, and my stomach was doing flips.

Maybe if I try hard enough, I can remember what I did last night. I took in a deep breath and tried to ignore the pain to concentrate.

Let's see...I do remember walking in the woods, for sure anyway. And then I was heading back, that's when I heard Okuri and the pain started. But that's it, nothing after that. Damn it, no matter how hard I try, I can't recall what happened after that.

I sighed again, seems like I've been doing that a lot lately. I opened my eyes as I heard a loud banging sound, and then someone barge into the room I was in while shouting,

"Are you alright, Keira-Sensei?"

It was Naruto, and his voice was making my head hurt more. If it was even possible anyway, it sure felt like it.

"Naruto, please...be a little quieter. My head is killing me," my voice cracked halfway through speaking, and I could tell I sounded weak.

The blonde comes over to me and kneels down while saying,

"I'm sorry, I thought you would have been feeling better by now."

"How long have I been out for?"

"A really long time, I don't know exactly how long. But you've been sleeping for maybe three days."

Three days? It only felt like a couple of hours, to me it did anyway. I brought a hand up to wipe my forehead, it was starting to get hot in here.

"Where are the others?" I question while turning my head to the side.

"They all went with Tazuna to the bridge, I was gonna go catch up to them," Naruto replies,

"I can't believe they just left me behind like that!"

I tried my best to plaster a smile on my face while looking back to him,

"Well...you had better get going then. Wouldn't want to keep them waiting, ya know?"

Naruto grins and replies,

"I'll see you in a little bit Keira-Sensei, I hope you start feeling better soon."

He stands up and offers a quick wave before practically dashing out of the room. As soon as he was gone, I let out a pained and shaky breath I didn't even know I was holding in. My leg was starting to hurt more, and it wasn't like I could just get up to try and walk it off. My leg was broken, I've been asleep for three days, and I can't remember what I did to end up this way. This is just fantastic.

I groaned as I heard someone else enter my room, who is it now? It can't be Naruto, it seemed like they were trying to be quiet. Whoever it was sat near me, I winced as they put their hand on my forehead. They pulled their hand back and I heard them mutter,

"Sorry."

I opened my eyes as best I could, I was kind of surprised, it was Inari's mother, Tsunami. She had a frown upon her lips, she says softly,

"I didn't mean to wake you, I just wanted to see how you were doing. You're still in pretty rough shape, I thought you might like something to eat as well."

"It's okay, I couldn't really sleep well anyway," I mutter while adjusting the blanket that was over my lap.

"I don't want you to struggle, so I brought you some rice," she says while reaching to the side to pick something up.

She showed it to me, it was in a small bowl with chopsticks sticking out of it. She sets it down and reaches to me, she helps me into somewhat of a sitting position, then moves some pillows behind me to keep me upright. Tsunami then grabs the bowl again, and takes some rice between the chopsticks before holding it out to me.

"Listen...I don't want to be a bother, I can handle feeding myself," I say while looking away from her. If I let her feed me, I wouldn't be able to live it down. It's downright embarrassing, I'm a grown woman for goodness sake! I should at least be able to handle this on my own.

"You are a guest in my home, and that means I'm going to care for you," Tsunami states with a stern tone,

"Now keep quiet."
