Freefall (Kakashi HatakeXOC Part1)

Rebuilding

It had been about a month since the whole incident with Pein and the village being destroyed, and everyone was helping to rebuild and restore things to the way they used to be. Everyone, except for me apparently. I was seven months along now, my due date only drawing closer and closer. Yamato had been doing a lot of work, he was using his wood style to make homes; but it was only exhausting him. He had been kind enough to make a small little place for Kakashi and I during the first few days of rebuilding, it only had one bedroom, a small kitchen, and a bathroom. I didn't mind though, it would be good enough until everyone else around the village had a proper home again.

I actually tried to help, even going so far as to go to the opposite side of the village to help in secret. But Kakashi sniffed me out everytime, and dragged me back to our little setup. I didn't see what the big deal of me helping was, yet he and even others thought the same thing about me not doing anything. Which is why I was now simply sitting off to the side on some lumber, Kakashi, Shikamaru, Choji, Sakura, and Naruto were all working on building a house in front of me. Choji and Shikamaru were moving more lumber, Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi were up on the frame of the house hammering pieces of wood into place. They all had been working like this ever since the whole reconstruction process had started.

I sat there watching them for a bit longer, before someone approached me. It was Iruka, and he was holding something behind his back; whatever it was, it was kind of big. He sits next to me and holds what I now saw was a box on his lap, he says,

"This belongs to you, Keira."

I look at the box curiously and ask,

"What is it?"

"Since everyone's been so busy helping rebuild the village, I haven't had a chance to give it to you until now. When Choji, Choza, and I had went out to look for anyone that needed help about a month ago, I had found this stuff," he replies while putting his hand on the lid of it,

"I figured these were things you didn't want to lose."

He opens the box, I couldn't believe he had actually managed to find these things once I saw them. Inside the box were Obito's goggles, Minato's specially marked kunai he had given me when I was younger, and even the red scarf Kakashi had gotten me was folded neatly on the bottom of the box. I look up at Iruka and say,

"I don't understand, our old place was completely destoyed. How did you find these?"

Iruka closes the box and sets it on the ground near my feet, I could have sworn I saw a blush on his face as he replies,

"Well...I had to do some digging around, but that's not important. I thought you'd like them back, I know how much sentimental value these things have to you."

"Thank you," I say while scooting closer to him to hug him gently,

"I honestly thought I wouldn't see these things again."

Kakashi hands me a glass of water, then plops down next to me on the small bed. We had returned to our temporary home when it got dark outside, and building was done for the day. He looked a bit distracted by something, I could tell by the way he kept staring off at seemingly nothing. I held the cup in my lap with one hand, and used my other to reach over and poke at his chest while asking,

"What's got you so distracted?"

He looks at me, obviously pulled from his thoughts by my poking. His expression seems to harden a bit as he replies,

"I've been talking with the village elders, they...want to nominate me for the position of Hokage. Lady Tsunade has yet to recover, and it doesn't seem like she's going to any time soon."
