Returned Feelings

"I think we need to talk."

"Is something the matter?" Kakashi questions, I could hear worry filling his voice.

I shake my head and muster up somewhat of a smile,

"No, no, nothings wrong. I just wanted to talk about us, you and me."

"What do you mean, us? We're always going to be friends, you can't get rid of me that easy."

My somewhat smile faded as I say,

"I know, and that's what I've been thinking about lately,"

I could tell I was blushing now, my cheeks felt warmer,

"What if we were...more than just friends?"

I kept my gaze away from him, I was anxious, yet scared, to hear his response. Maybe I could have worded it differently. Oh well, it's kind of too late for that now.

"Well, if we were, there wouldn't be any disagreement on my part."

I raised my head slowly, did I hear that right? He was actually alright with this?

"You do know I'm practically saying...I love you, right?" I could tell there was confusion etched across my face.

He nods and says,

"Of course."

I suddenly felt so happy, happier than I've been in such a long time. The last time I can remember being this happy, was back when....Minato was still around. Of course, I've had good times since then, but never any that felt this special.

"Oh, Kakashi..."

My body kind of moved by itself, because I now found myself awkwardly hugging him. It was difficult to hug him because I was sitting next to him, so the best I could do was embrace his arm.

He reaches over with his other hand and flicks my forehead in an affectionate manner.

"I'm glad you said that, I wouldn't know what to do if you didn't," I mutter. He pats my head, then lowers his arm back to his side, he says,

"If you hadn't brought this up, I would have been the one telling you something like that actually."

"Really?"

He hums in response, I lay my head against his shoulder. I could stay this way forever, I remember a promise I made a long time ago. Now I was finally fulfilling it.

"Hey, Keira! Come here, I need to talk to you," Obito hollers from nearby. I shake my head as I stop my work and go over to him, we were supposed to be looking for some lady's cat, it ran away from her and she put in a request for it to be found. So, we being Genin, got stuck with the job. Rin and Kakashi were off in a different part of the village, I'm not sure where Minato went though.

"What is it now, Obito?" I ask with a small smile, I've gotten used to us having little chats like this. They made me feel like we can be even closer friends, and tell anything to each other.

He grabs my hands and holds them tightly, then replies,

"I want you to promise me something."

I cock my head to the side slightly,

"What?"

"I want you to promise me you'll find someone special to you, someone you can get even closer to than me," he flashes me a grin.

"I promise. But you have to do the same."

Obito nods,

"Of course!"

He pulls me closer to him and hugs me, I return the embrace. I'll still never get used to the feeling of hugging him, it was really enjoyable. I've never really had someone to hug like this, so I'm glad I had Obito.

We pull apart and I take his hand back in mine, I pull him behind me as I say,

"Come on, we've got to keep looking for that cat."

He quickens his pace so he was walking at my side,

"I bet we can find it before Rin and the know-it-all! If we do, Sensei might give us a reward!"

"Yeah, maybe he'll let us go for the day. We could go hang out with Kurenai and the others."

Obito uses his free hand to stick his fist into the air,

"Alright! Let's get this mission done!"

All the while we looked for the cat, I hadn't even noticed we were still holding hands.

"So, does this mean we get to sleep in the same bed?" I ask quietly, my cheeks felt warm from blushing. Kakashi simply shrugs as he flips the page of his book,

"I suppose if you want to, we could. I wouldn't mind."

"Well, I'm gonna think about it, I'm not sure yet. I'm turning in for the night. See you in a little while,"

As I head down the small hall, I hear Kakashi call after me,

"Goodnight."

I couldn't help but smile as I close the door to my room, I slide down to the floor and let my head rest against the door.

'I finally did it Obito, I found that special person. He was right in front of my face all along, I was just too blind to realize it was him.'
