To say you hadn't thought about last night's events would've been a lie. You had tried to shake the handsome boy from your thoughts all night and morning, but his brown eyes just seemed to haunt you, filling your dreams with careless whispers and deep swirls of mahogany. You were shocked, embarrassed almost. Somehow it felt as if he knew, purposely tampering with your dreams as you couldn't admit to yourself that maybe you liked him more than you should.

For some odd reason your heart jumped a little as you remembered the previous night. He looked absolutely stunning, his entire outfit was black, not a single ounce of colour, but it suited him perfectly. Outshining all the other boys in the room, all the other boys in the school to be exact. The darkness of his attire contrasted dangerously to the deathly paleness of his skin, but somehow it made him look menacingly beautiful.

It was a pleasant shock to find that Tom had actually read the play, the playful tease in his eyes as he challenged you across the table caused your stomach to erupt in butterflies. No one would've thought that Tom would ever pick up a muggle book. Even Tom himself cursed under his breath as he forcefully found the small book amongst the muggle literature section of the library after you had left. He had to build himself the courage and rid of his distaste for a good while before opening up the book, however, even he couldn't help to admit that by the end of it he was silently thankful that you had mentioned the play. He was shocked at how articulate and poetic the language was, the constant symbols and themes portrayed so abstractly throughout the thoughtful piece had him questioning the intelligence of muggles.

The small act brought a dreamy smile to your face as you rushed to get ready for breakfast. Nancy and Andrew had already left early as they wanted to speak to the quidditch professor for try-outs. Nancy had been Ravenclaws keeper since her fourth year. She spoke about the sport with such a passion that you could tell she was good at what she does. Andrew wanted to try out as a seeker. The previous seeker, Harriet, had dropped out as she suffered a bad fall in the last game of her 5th year, meaning that there was an open spot on the team. You knew Andrew was perfect for the role, he had a very sharp pair of eyes, noticing every small detail and every little action with barely any attention.

Skipping down to the great hall, you joined your friends at the top of the table, squeezing into the gap between Andrew and another sixth year.

"Good morning!" you smile, grabbing a ruby red apple from the fruit bowl.

"Morning..." Nancy looked over with a confused look on her face.

You weren't normally too joyful in the mornings, only muttering a few odd words and listening to Nancy ramble on about anything. Andrew simply shrugged and continued eating his scrambled eggs.

"So, did you speak to the professor about try-outs then?" She nodded her head, swallowing a mouthful of porridge before continuing.

"Yeah, try-outs start after classes, just before diner. You should come watch!"

"That sounds great, I'd love to see you two play" you smile and look towards Andrew briefly who was staring down at his plate with a thoughtful look on his face.

"What did you have to speak to slug horn about yesterday" he said, not taking his eyes off from the table.

"Oh, um well my father and Slughorn were friends growing up, my father just wanted me to mention a quick word to him in private" The lie flew off your lips so fluently it would've taken a spell to detect whether you were lying or not.

You secretly thanked your father, throughout your whole life he had taught you how to keep secrets, lie to others who ask too many questions and ultimately Occlumency as you got older.
