It had been almost two weeks since the incident at Diagon Alley, meaning that it was the last week of school until Christmas break.

Things had slowly been progressing between you and Tom, nothing too obvious for people to realise but enough to make the rest of the school ponder. He'd try walk you to most of your lessons where he could and spend all your free periods together, either in the library or the room of requirement. Although you loved spending time with Tom, it unfortunately meant your time spent with friends was limited, especially with the infamous 'marauders,' and to your worry, they had all started growing suspicious, especially Andrew. Luckily Nancy always had your back, covering for you using random excuses that surprisingly didn't include Professor Slughorn.

The day was coming to an end, finishing it off with your last lesson of Herbology before Christmas break.

"So off to see Mr Lover boy later?" Nancy bumped your shoulder as you packed your books away.

A small blush rose to your cheeks as you tried hiding your face with the few random pieces of hair that feel out your pony.

"No need to be so loud Nancy!" You whispered loudly and looked over towards Andrew and the Marauders as they stood a few tables away, chatting whilst packing away. "You already know they're starting to grow suspicious"

She rolled her eyes sarcastically and slung her bag over her shoulder, "Come on, the day the boys start realising my excuses are all crap will be the day you and Mr lover boy finally make things public" she laughed. "You know, I always wonder where you guys run off to, you're rarely ever in the library, makes it a lot harder to cover for you" she questioned, her eyebrows furrowing slightly.

You hadn't told Nancy about the room of requirement, wanting to keep the discovery between you and Tom, claiming it as your own little space.

You shrug your shoulders and walk out of the class, "We always manage to find somewhere people won't bother us" you cover.

She nods her head in acknowledgement as you make your way to the common room.

"Manage to find out what he's doing over Christmas then?" she asks

You shake your head slowly, sighing softly. "He's trying to convince Dippet and Dumbledore to allow him to stay at Hogwarts over Christmas break but I doubt they'll allow it" You say as you weave you way through the crowd of students.

You hadn't told Nancy much of Tom's upbringing but mentioned that he had a few problems with his 'parents' with them being so strict. You didn't feel comfortable telling her he was an orphan, not that you didn't trust her, but just because you knew Tom would hate it if anyone ever found out.

"He still won't take up your offer then?" She huffs from exhaustion as you finally made it to the large set of stairs that lead to the top of Ravenclaw Tower.

"I think I'm slowly convincing him, but I don't think he'll say yes" you both step onto the stairs and silently thank as they start moving before anyone else could hop on. "He's not even my actual boyfriend yet, its barely been a few weeks" you kick at the dirt on the stairs.

"I mean he might as well be" she says, "You're together all the time, people just question it because you both don't really act like a couple in public and plus, they're all terrified of him" she says, making you laugh softly.

"Well hopefully I can convince him while you're all at Quidditch practice" You walk up the stairs as they stop, knocking on the door softly with the intricately woven handle, the familiar face of the eagle emerging from the door.

The more you take, the more you leave behind

"Footsteps" You answered immediately, the wooden door creaking open to reveal the common room, warm air instantly overwhelming you.
