“Whatever happens,” Viktor started to say the afternoon of the Grove hearing. Today we would find out if he was going to jail or not. A part of me was nervous because I knew how much power Daniel Grove had in our town and another part of me was nervous because what if they found evidence that pointed at someone else? Or five other people?
“We’re here for you.” Bay finished.
I looked around the room and stared at my friends. Mark and Carrie cuddled on the long couch. Bay sat on the floor and Conrad lounged in the recliner in the corner of the room, and Viktor sat beside me, his fingers laced between mine.
“We’ll deal with it together,” Mark smiled.
“Because we’re a family,” Carrie added.
“Like it or not,” Conrad finished.
