Dirty Glass:

Just because I can't see through the glass now

Doesn't mean I will never know

What's just beyond

It doesn't mean I can't go

To the other side

Wipe my hands across the dirty glass

Leaving a trail of clear reflection behind

Just because the window is covered in dirt

Doesn't mean it always will be.

Sunburnt:

Burning, crackling skin

Peeling off the places it was born in

Sunburnt from the outdoor rays

A reminder that I am alive

And even with my burning skin

I will take it as a sign

That I am still here in this world

That even after being burnt

My flesh will begin

To repair.

It seems odd to hold dear

To such an strange thing,

Who in their right mind would want sunburn

Is not clear

But it serves purpose that I still feel

That I have come out of that numb place I was in

That I can still recognise pain

That my body is still capable of change.
