Adolescence As It Lessens:

Eighteen and lost for time

One day you'll soon be twenty five

And then your teen years have completely

Passed you by

It's not so much that I miss the high school halls

That I miss the rebellion and skipping role call

It's that I know I will never be that girl again

I will be the adult struggling to meet low wage

And then

Returning home to an empty house

With even emptier pockets and hearts

Responsibilities weighing on

All the memories I used to have

All the feelings of nostalgia.

So hold on to your youth

While you can

And let your adolescence

Have a chance

To let you feel everything

You might not feel again.
