🏃Clark's POV🏃
"Happy new job to you! Happy new job to you!" I wore an awkward smile as my coworkers -soon to be ex-coworkers- sang to me. They thought that hosting a going away party in regards to my leaving the bookstore to work with Meaghan was a great idea.
Although I felt that the glittery decorations and presents were very unnecessary, I appreciated their care and the large cake.
" . . . Happy new job dear Clarkson~"
"That's not my name!" I added, rolling my eyes at their assumption that my name is a nickname.
"Happy New Job To YOU!!!"
The cheers and clapping felt incredibly familiar, despite the fact that it usually associating went with my birthday, not my resignation.
Luckily, my coworkers did not force me to "make a wish", but I was still required to cut the cake.
Over the weeks before I officially quit, I had to push himself past my emotions to get anything done. It was hard for a while and I needed to take a week off following the news of Kevin being in Toronto. But I adjusted and leaned on my friends and Liam for help.
So, I was finally moving on.
Hearing about Kevin had almost distracted me from the great new opportunity coming into his life.
I was going to work directly with an interior designer. Not even Kevin could ruin that for him.
I beamed as those around me joked and laughed about our times together and my new job.
Gabe was quieter than usual, but I suspect that it was just because he was sad to see me go. But I received several texts from him and multiple times he called me "by accident" thinking that it was his mom or something.
It was fantastic and I enjoyed every minute of it. And by this time in two days, I would be working with one of the biggest interior designers in North America.

"So, this is the main office area." Meaghan gestured around the large, colourful room filled with comfortable looking desks. "The assistants to the main designers take the smaller desks and the main designers take the larger areas. This space is for laying out ideas for rooms and those meetings rooms over there are for group projects and meetings with new clients."
My mouth hung wide open as my eyes moved from one thing to another.
The place was, understandably, beautifully decorated. The colour scheme was nude pink and navy blue and it was spread throughout the room perfectly.
I was thoroughly impressed to see how neat and beautiful the interior looked and took great enjoyment out of obsessing over the decor.
"This place is fantastic, Meaghan." I complimented enthusiastically, my eyes wide in wonder. "I should have visited this place much sooner."
Meaghan giggled softly and threw her arm around my shoulder.
"Well, know you know better." Meaghan said in a sweet and comforting tone. "The next time that I buy out a small old building and turn it into the headquarters for my extremely successful decorating business, you will know to visit the moment that it opens."
The two of us laughed as quietly as we could with others still working in the office before she started to walk me towards the smaller desks.
We stopped in front of one that, compared to the others around it, was far neater and more de-cluttered.
