🏃Clark's POV🏃

"Alright! So the Ashley has a smaller space than our usual costumers." Kisten states, briskly walking through the paint store. "We are going to have to stay more minimal with the decor because of our budget and find a wall colour that will really pull the room together."

"And make up for the lack of decor." I added on. I shut my mouth closed when I realized I did so and looked down at the ground.

Kisten was the decorator, I am his assistant, yet I was speaking as if we were on the same level. Kisten wasn't upset at all and simply nodded.

"Exactly." He agreed before stopping. We stood in front of a section of Latex, easy to clean paint. The paints had a glossy finish and most of the tones in this section were paler toned-down shades. But there was a colour palette in front of the display, meaning that we could choose a specific colour and have it made in this paint formula.

Kisten brought his hand up to his chin and hummed. I squinted my eyes at the display myself when I remembered what Kisten was doing.

When thinking, Kisten would usually make some really cliche gestures so I decided to think as well.

"So the client wants a cool green and purple colour scheme." Kisten states, repeating some of the information we had gathered from the client the day before. "We need a colour that will either be a great addition to the scheme or will be a great canvas to the decor."

With that information, I bit my bottom lip lightly.

"We could try a pale green with one bright purple wall, but I'm a bit afraid of it coming off as tacky." Kisten said, thinking out loud. "Or we could do an off white, maybe more yellow toned to bring out the different tones of the green and purple in the room . . . "

Kisten scoffed and shook his head. He started to suggest more ideas out loud but was unhappy with everything he came up. He couldn't seem to land on an idea that he liked.

My eyes started to drift around the store.

It was now a little over a month since Santiago had been over and we got the invite to the college talent show. Since then, I have been with Kisten.

The entire time.

I have been assisting him with clients, two so far. And our third and newest client was renting a small but nice apartment. They only had so much money to spend and their place was smaller than what we were used to. We were doing her living room and dining room as they were pretty much connected, but the space was still a bit tight. So we- Uh . . . I mean Kisten had to be extra creative in his planning.

I was still the assistant, so I usually didn't get much advice and instead just learned. But, seeing how much trouble it was causing him, I finally decided to suggest something.

"Uh . . . we could do a pastel purple, it will be soft enough that it blends into the room but still fit the colour scheme." I suggested quietly, intently watching Kisten' reaction to see if he liked it. Kisten narrowed his eyes, still staring in front of him, then planted his gaze onto me.

"Pastel purple can often seem similar to a child's room." He told me.

"It would be light, one of the palest shades. And the coolness of it will seem more gender neutral." I added. When Kisten continued to stare at me, I took the hint and scrambled to grab the colour samples. Going to the cooler-toned purples, I found a pale shade that was close to what I imagined.

"Something like this." I told him, pointing to the shade. Kisten silently stared at the colour.

"I worry that simply having the one colour won't be the best choice with the smaller room." Kisten says.
