Chapter 41 Fear in his Eyes.

Keanu's p.o.v

I looked up at Sandy, sitting in the hospital bed looking down at Louis with a puzzled look. She replied in a soft voice and said

"Yes baby, it's momma"

Sandy held out her hand toward Louis but Louis stood there motionless.

I walked up behind Louis and nudged him forward. "Go on" I said "go sit with momma, and give her the flowers you bought her" Louis turned around and looked up at me with his dark brown eyes. He looked scared. I could tell he knew it was Sandy but he was frightened by the fact she had no hair. I heard soft whimpers come from Sandy.

I sighed and took Louis out into the hall. I asked one of the nurses to watch him so I could talk to Sandy privately. The nurse took Louis's hand and took him behind the front desk to play with the computer.

"I'll be right back Louis" I shouted as I walked into Sandy's room.

I walked over to Sandy and put my arm around her as I sat on the bed holding her close. So close I could feel her heart beating. "You okay?" I asked softly.

She dug her head into my chest with tears coming down her face.

"My own son is scared of me. He doesn't wanna touch me nor be in the same room with me... My little man, my whole world wants nothing to do with me and my heart breaks seeing his little brown eyes filled with fear when he sees me. I prolly look like some scary monster to him. Maybe you shouldn't have came. Maybe he shouldn't see me"

I cut Sandy off.

"We can't just keep Louis away from you for months while you have chemo therapy. That's ridiculous. He has to see his momma. He would question where you were and I know he'd miss you if he couldn't see you for months"

"It would be for the better. He wouldn't be scared of me and my heart wouldn't be broken knowing my own son is frightened by me" she replied back bluntly.

"Look baby, he just has to warm up too you and everything will be like it used too. Just give it a chance... Okay?"

Sandy shook her head yes knowing she couldn't say no.

I tried to get up to go get Louis but she pulled my arm back and forced me back on the bed. She put her hands on my face softly and ran her fingers through my hair.

"I miss you" she mouthed

I put my hands over hers and felts the IV that was in her arm

I kissed her softly and said "I miss you too Sandy"

Sandy's p.o.v

Keanu went out Into the hall to get Louis and in walked a nurse. She looked extremely familiar but I couldn't figure out where I knew her from.

"Hello Sandy" she said as she walked over to the side of the bed checking all the monitors and my heart rate.

I stuttered a bit and asked "umm do I know you from somewhere"

She chuckled and said "I'm Ryan's girlfriend"

The light bulb went off in my head... "Oh yes yes... That's right...."

She walked out of the room quickly without giving me a chance to finish my sentence. I mumbled under my breathe "something about that women is very odd"

In walked Louis and Keanu. I think Keanu gave Louis a little pep talk because he didn't seem as frightened.

"I'm sorry momma" he said in a soft voice.

I smiled ear to ear and put my hands out to take Louis from Keanu's arms.

Louis crawled up in my lap and ran his soft little hand over my bald head.

"Where's your hair momma?"

I tilted my head a bit and replied "baby, the medicine mommy is taking makes her hair come out."

He noticed the stands of hair on my pillow.

"Alright" Keanu interrupted "wanna get a snack or something from the vending machine Louis?"

no answer.

"Go on" I said as I nudged Louis forward.

He abruptly turned around and burst into tears, digging his head into the covers.

"I don't want momma to die" he cried out.

I looked up at Keanu with tears in my eyes.

"Alright I think it's time to leave" Keanu said as he picked Louis up from the bed.

He leaned over and gave me a kiss good bye and whispered

"call me later"
