Thursday 6th of February

Today's Thursday. I wake up this morning and quickly run into the shower. I dress up quickly and brush my hair. I wear it in a ponytail and take my bag downstairs. I rush downstairs and pull out bread from the fridge. I toast my raisin fruit loaf bread and then butter it. I eat and grab a cup of milk. The bell rang and I walk with my toast in my mouth and a cup of milk in my hand. I open the door and see Ben at the door. I drop my toast on the floor.

"What are you doing here?"

"To drive the infamous Jamie to school"

"Why"

"I don't get a good morning"

I slam the door and then the bell rings again. This has to be a dream. I open the door and he's there again and I slam the door. The bell rings again and I see Jade and she quickly yells that if I slam the door in her face, I'm in trouble.

"Jade, what are you doing here"

"Hello to you too" she ignores the question

"It's Ben's idea. He honks at my house continuously until I accept his ride. So if I were you. I would leave the house"

I grabbed my bag straight away and ran out the door not before telling everyone that I have a ride. I get in the car and put on my seatbelt and I see my brother run out with a towel wrapped around his waist.

"Dude, I thought you're picking me up?" Zach asked

"Only one Brooke at a time" Ben yells

"So after you drop my sister, you're going to come back and get me right?" Zach wondered

"No way" Ben calls out

He hits the gas pedal and speeds down my street, missing Luke who was waiting outside in the process. I turned around behind me and I saw him call Ben's name out. As much I felt the need to help him, I was kind of happy, we didn't pick him up. Because for a whole week I cried myself to sleep, punched a picture of his face and wrote a song about him.

We arrive at school in a record of 8 minutes and I got out of the car. Students started to whisper to their friends and I didn't understand it one bit. As soon as I stepped out of the car, the students started clapping. I just thought it was a mere coincidence. I walked up the steps and pushed open the doors to the inside of my school. I walked in and everyone in the hall started clapping. Jade hid behind Ben because she hates getting attention. I saw Ben smirk and I shook my head at my friend. I walked up to the junior and senior block and I saw the kids in their coloured seats stand up and clap. Some of the girls screamed and started talking on top of each other. I had no idea why. The rebels stood up on the table. Then I saw Jonathan Greene walk up and shake my hand. I saw my friends and they ran up to me and hugged me.

"What is going on. Why is everyone clapping and cheering" I asked them

"How could you not know" Leah asked

"I don't" I told them honestly

"You're on the first page inside the Ambrose Academy School News. And you mentioned my name" Kemi squealed

"What!" I shouted, earning everyone to look at me.

I asked one of the girls if I could borrow their paper. I looked at the table contents and saw my name on page 10. My article was on the left of the page but I read the next page on the right and read what Miss King.

Jamie Brookes (15) has captured the attention of the audience and the issues, teenagers and students go through in the adolescent world today. I can honestly say that this is work is amazing and it shows that she has great talent and she is only a junior! I can tell that she is going to be a very good journalist as she grows up, if that's what she wants to be. I believe she deserves recognition for her article and feel free students to tell her that she is doing an excellent job.
