To say Principal Drinkwater was delighted to see us was an understatement. How we got 14 students in one room was somehow miraculous. I was in the middle. On my right were Jade, Ben, Akemi, Frankie, Andrealle and JJ. On my left were Luke, Precious, Zach, Leah, Lenny, Haley and Bailey.
Our principal was a very peculiar lady. She had a nice face but would always frown. Even when she wasn’t doing anything, like relaxing her face, you would see lines. She sat up straight and was just assessing each and every one of us and was shocked to see her son.
“What is the meaning of this nonsense?” she asked and no one said anything
“Who’s idea was it to set the school alarm, half an hour later than usual” she boomed
“It was my idea mu-Mrs Drinkwater” he corrected himself
“Francesca” she asked
“Mum!” he yelled
“Your full name is Francesca” Jade giggled and we all looked at her. She can be childish.
“I’m not surprised to see you Miss Carperelli” she said rudely
“I know, it’s been a long time since I have seen you and you look graceful as always” Jade complimented but I wasn’t sure if she was serious.
“Why did you do that” she said, focusing on Frankie
“I swear I set the time for 10 minutes later. Luke asked me a favour since he helped me get a girlfriend and because he had an important announcement” he said
“Wait, so you asked for Luke’s help to ask me out?” Akemi said
“Yeah” and Frankie started blushing
“What was the announcement” The principal asked
“Uh…it’s kind of personal” Luke told her
“Well if you don’t start talking, I’m going to have to give you detention” Principal Drinkwater yelled
“A girl wanted me to prove to her that I actually cared about her but I didn’t get time to because Leah interrupted me” Luke scratched the back of his neck
“Leah, how are you involved in this” the principal asks
“I was upset with Luke for dumping me for another girl, Jamie. All I wanted was to talk to her in a more sophisticated manner but Jamie, she just wouldn’t have it. So she pretty much angered me and I couldn’t take it anymore” Leah admitted
“Honey, you did a whole more than that” Akemi mentioned
“What did she do?” the principal asked
“She threatened me to stay away from Luke and she read my diary including my friends” I told her
“So you did all of this because of some guy?” the principal found this to be stupid.
“He played me” Leah shouted
“Yes and he played Precious, get over it. You don’t see Precious doing what you did. Oh wait, she did” Jade shot
“So he’s a two timer? He’s 17 what do you expect?” Principal asked
“But it doesn’t explain how the time was set to an hour?” that’s all she wanted to know
“I did it but only for 20 minutes” Precious admitted
“Why?” the principal wondered
“Well, I followed Frankie and Luke, so once they left, I changed the time but I had no idea they had done it already. I wanted some time to change my makeup because I had a little accident plus, I was having a bad make up day” She explained
