Thursday 14th of August

I’m at home and getting ready to start phase 1. Jade had overheard Luke and Leah talking about their date. So we decided that we were going to go on their date but we’re going to have to show up with a reason so Jade thought go into Leah’s Hotmail account and email a fake invitation to go to her dinner party.

But, Luke had to be aware of the plan. So I packed my laptop and decided to take a walk down the Daniel’s house. There Mrs Daniels invited me in and told me Luke was in his room. I walked upstairs and knocked on the door.

“Jamie what are you doing here”

“I have to tell you something”

“Ok” he let me in.

I sat on the floor while he sat on the bed. I opened my laptop and open the Hotmail page.

“Jamie if you’re here to confess your undying love for me” he started

“I’m not here for that!” I told him

“What are you here for?” he asked

“I really need to get something from her but then she told me that she has a date” I sigh

“Why can’t you get it tomorrow?” he thought

“She has my book for English and you know Mrs Baxter. I really need it at least by today” I tell him

“And what do you want me to do” he shrugged. He’s helpful, isn’t he……

“I hope you don’t mind, if I come over” I give him my best sad face

“During our date?” he asked as if he wasn’t hearing me. No…during your honeymoon! Patience Jamie.

“I won’t hang around, I just need to get something” I tell him

“Yeah sure” he said unsure

“Just asking, what time is your date” I ask

“7:00 pm and we’re having dinner”

I sat with my back against the wall and opened the Hotmail sign-in page. I started typing in her email address: borrisM@hotmail.com. I typed in the password and her live account was shown. I clicked compose and typed the message title which was birthday party and added all my friends address.

Hey guys,

I’m having a birthday party this Friday and I was hoping if you guys can come. I really can’t wait for you guys to celebrate my sweet 16 with me.

Event: Dinner Party

Where: 8 Glacial Avenue

You don’t need to RSVP, just show up with food, gifts and yourselves! J

Ps: wear a suit for guys and a dress for the gals.                                               Love Leah

And send. Looks like little Leah is going to have a surprise 16 birthday party. I can’t wait. I looked up to see Luke staring at me. He looked away. I looked at my watch and saw it was time to leave. Luke offered to walk with me since it was dark. The night was pitch black and the outside was really cold. I shouldered my laptop and just focused on my breath.

We soon arrived at my house and we just stood there facing each other. I just looked at him and him at me. I was looking around and he just smiled.

“Aren’t you going to leave?” I ask him

“Aren’t you going to open the door?” he asked

“I will” I tell him

“Then do it” he continues

I huff and ring the doorbell. No one answers. I ring the doorbell again and no one opens the door. I knock on the door and I don’t hear anything. I knock and knock. I even kick the door open and the old man that loves me so dearly tells me to “stop being a whippersnapper and quiet down. People are not as young as they used to be. So the least I could is shut my yapper”. Sweet old man, isn’t he?

“What’s going on?” Luke asks

“I don’t know” I call the house phone and I hear it ringing. Soon I hear a deep voice.

“Zach”

“Jamie?”

“I’m outside. I’ve been knocking why isn’t anyone opening the door” I ask him

“I’m coming”

The door opens and I see Zach look all gruff. I wave to Luke and he walks away with hands in his pocket. He gives me a small nod then walks into the darkness. Dun dun DUN! I’m just exaggerating.

I walked inside and then it was like someone had died in here. Not like the time Luke and his friends joined here. It was dead and we’re in a living room! Funny? No…okay. I walked into the living room and see my dad with his head in his hands. Ashley is standing up and walking around and Zach is just sitting in a corner.

“What’s the matter?” I asked

“Karen….she’s gone. I don’t know where she is. I’ve been calling her and she won’t answer. She’s even taken the car and it’s nearly 9. I don’t know where she is. I-” My dad was worried

“Dad, Karen is-” I took a deep breath

“Is coming back” Ashley said on top of me

“Ashley he needs to know” I whispered

“No he doesn’t” she whispered back

“Dad, Karen she is not coming back” I said

“She will Jamie, I know my wife” he says with a look of trust

“She’s someone else’s wife” I mumbled

“You know what Jamie ever since your dad married our mum, you’ve been nothing but critical” Zach said with his voice shaking

“Critical?” I asked

“Yes you have, why can’t you give dad hope” Ashley looked at me

“Hope. False hope. I get it now….you guys are too scared to tell him the truth” I said in a challenging tone

“Jamie” Ashley scolded

“No, he’s MY dad. I’ll tell him” I raised my voice

“Dad” I called

“What is it Jamie?” he asked and I could see wrinkles on his forehead.

Just then the door opened and Karen was wearing a cream dress which is sewn to the side. Black high heels with a matching purse. Lot of bangles, black pearl drop earrings and a very expensive watch. The way she looked, you’d think she came out of a fashion magazine but the way she was presented was all over the place. Her hair was frazzled and her feet weren’t properly in and her dress was rough and her lipstick was smudged.

“Karen” my dad walked over and hugged her. I looked at Zach and Ashley

“Unbelievable!” I exclaimed

I turned around and walked upstairs, Ashley follows and then my brother. Before I walk in, I stop. I face them and tell them

“He’s going to find out sooner than later. Let’s just hope it’s not too late” before entering my room.
