(Now this chapter and the others that follow will be in Avery's POV, so enjoy)

I only saw darkness. I whimpered crawling around trying to feel around for my surroundings. Where am I? What's going on? I must've wandered pretty far as I felt something pick me up and bring me back close to them. I struggled to open my eyes.
I whined trying to open my eyes. Soon, I finally did, but I saw blurry images. "Oh look! Avery's opening his eyes!" I heard my mother say. My vision cleared, and I saw my mom, my dad, and my siblings. I stumbled over. "Hi," I said softly. "Hey Avery's up," said a female's voice. She came over and tackled me. I giggled and wagged my tiny fluffy tail. "Yay playtime!" said another female's voice as she too came over.
"Avery these are your sisters: Brownie and Holly," my mother said. "Why is your ear bent like that?" Brownie asked me. "I don't really know," I replied. "It's pretty cool," said Holly. I gave a smile. "Thanks Holly." "Bet you can't catch me," said Holly. I looked at Brownie, and she looked at me. We chased her. I laughed and tagged her. "Gotcha," I barked. "Oh darn," she laughed.
We played around until our mother called us for dinner. We nursed until we were tired and fell asleep.

                  *that night*

I was sleeping when I heard a crash. It woke my whole family up. It woke my owners up too. I whined. "It's ok, Avery. Calm down," my mother said to me gently licking my forehead. My father stayed alert. I saw a figure with a metal object in his hand. Were we being robbed? I was scared. So were my sisters. We laid cuddled by Mom. "9-1-1! Help us!" I heard our owner Katie call. "What's going on?" Danny cried. The robber ran for us. My father barked and snarled ready to attack.
He was able to distract the robber long enough until I heard sirens. The police had arrived. They burst through the door. "PUT YOUR HANDS UP!" I heard the policeman call. The robber turned around with his hands up. The policemen handcuffed him and took him away. "Sorry for the trouble, ma 'am," the policeman said. "It's ok," Katie said. My eyes grew droopy again, and I yawned. What if this happens again? Will we be so fortunate? Oh well. I don't want to worry any more than I already was.
