*a month later*
Now one month has passed. I was playing in the backyard with my sisters Brownie and Holly. We were playing tag. "Can't catch me Avery," Brownie giggled. I was it. I chased her around the yard and tagged her on the ear. "Haha got you," I laughed wagging my fluffy tail. I was already so fluffy at one month old. Hehe. I looked like moving ball of fur. We kept playing tag until we heard Katie, our owner, call us inside. "Dinner time you crazy pups," she said smiling at us.
We rushed in and ran to our food bowls. I ate pretty quickly but not fast enough to get hiccups like my sister Holly. "Holly you're not supposed to eat so fast," Katie said chuckling. I cleaned up around my bowl the best I could looking up at Katie, and I burped. 'Whoops!' I said in my mind. I just sat there and grinned at her. Katie laughed. "Aww! You little cutie!" Katie said patting my head. I gave the cutest bark I could. "Awwwww!"
After that, we went to go play outside again. I guess the pollen must've been floating around because I was sneezing all over the place. I whimpered. "Avery, are you ok?" Brownie asked me. "I think I'm getting sick," I whimpered again. "Aww you poor thing," said Holly. Katie saw through the window and rushed outside picking me up. "I'm taking you to the vet. C'mon Brownie and Holly."
Katie drove all they way to the vet's office. I whimpered, scared. I don't know what a vet is. Is the vet good? Is the vet bad? I didn't know, but I didn't like it either. I cried out in fear. "Shhh. It's ok Avery. The vet will take good care of you," Katie said reassuringly. We arrived, and Katie picked me up carrying me inside. She spoke to a lady at a desk. "Hello. How may I help you?" the lady asked. "My young pup Avery is sneezing, and I think he might be sick. Can the vet help him please?" Katie said. "Absolutely. Right this way to Room 2. The vet will be right with you."
I whined. Katie kept petting me trying to calm me down. Then the vet walked in. "Hello. I'm Dr. Shelly. I'm the head vet," Shelly said. "Hello. I'm Katie," Katie said. "So what's going on?" "Well, Avery here was playing outside when, all of a sudden, he started sneezing and coughing out of the blue." "Hmmm...I would like to take him back to get an x ray at least to see if he could have anything in his lungs that shouldn't be there or if it's the flu or something like that. We'd still like to test for it." "Oh. Absolutely." I whined as Shelly took me back to another room.
They put me on this table. They then took pictures of me. I just stood stiff from fear. I heard Shelly talk. "Hmm...nothing blocking the lungs. One of you check his temperature." One of the other vets grabbed a thermometer. It didn't feel very good, and I didn't like it. "No fever. Body temperature's perfectly normal." I felt Shelly pick me back up again carrying me back to Katie. "Good news. There was nothing blocking his lungs, and he tested negative for the flu," Shelly said. "So what do you think it is?" Katie asked. "It's only an allergy. They get them all the time. I'm gonna prescribe an allergy medication for him." One of the other vets comes over with some pills in a bottle and hands them to Shelly. "He is to take one of these with his dinner everyday." "Oh thank you so much!" Katie said taking the pills and going out the door.
I guess the vet wasn't too bad...except for the part where they took my temperature. Bleh! It's disgusting how they take an animal's body temperature . They take a thermometer and stick it up....well....it's pretty straightforward. I laid down in the car as Katie drove back home.
