(Now back to Avery's POV)
I lay asleep on the couch. Sylvia and Hunter kept checking on me to see if I was doing ok. "He looks so precious when he sleeps," she whispered. "Kinda reminds me of myself when I was a puppy," Hunter whispered back. I stirred. "Shh. Shh. He's waking up!" Sylvia looked at me.
I opened my eyes and looked at them. "Good morning," I said to them. "Morning," Sylvia said smiling. The woman came in the living room and gave me something to eat. I sniffed the food and ate it careful not to make a mess. "All right. Who's ready for a walk?" the woman asked. Sylvia and Hunter barked and wagged their tails. "You too little guy," the woman looked at me. "We can even see if we can find who you belong to."
We went out and walked towards downtown. That's when I noticed some pictures on fence posts and lampposts. I tilted my head looking at them. I gasped. It was my picture on that paper. I moved closer taking a look. Sylvia noticed. "What is it?" she asked. "My owner. She must be so worried." I continued to look at the picture. The woman walked over. "Interesting," she said looking at it. "'Have you seen this dog? If found please call this number: 625-8973.'" She then looked at me. "Wait a minute! You're their lost dog! I've found you!" she immediately pulled out her phone and called Katie's phone.
[Katie's POV]
I sighed. I wondered whether people even cared that Avery was missing. I had begun to think that he'd never return. The kids were off school today, and Thomas was off from work. He sat next to me grasping my hand. "I'm sure someone will notice," he said reassuringly. "Thanks honey."
Some more time passed by when suddenly my phone rang. I jumped up. Maybe it was someone calling about Avery. I answered it. "Hello Katie Smith speaking." The person on the other end of the line spoke back. "Hello. I'm Pamela Williams. Im calling to let you know that I found your dog." I almost screamed in happiness. "You have?! Oh thank you so much! Where can I meet you to pick him up?" "By the coffee shop will do." "Ok thanks." I hung up. "What was that about?" Thomas asked. "Honey! Someone found Avery. I'm going to meet them to pick him up!" "I told you someone would notice."
I got in my car and drove to the coffee shop. Once I was there, I parked and saw a woman with two dogs by her side. She was holding Avery in her arms. I walked up. "Oh hello. You must be Pamela. I'm Katie. Nice to meet you." "Nice to meet you too," she said. "You've been looking for this little guy?" "Yes I have. Thank you so much for taking care of him!" "No problem!" She said handing Avery to me. "Where did you find him?" "At the dog park. He seemed lost, so I took him in until I could find his real owner. I couldn't leave him out there all alone especially when he's that young." "Thanks again." "Happy to help."
I put Avery in the car and drove back to the house. I took him inside and called Thomas and the kids out. "Look who I have here." "Avery!" Danny said. "Yep." "Where did you find him?" Makayla asked. "I didn't find him. Someone else did and took care of him until I came to get him." They all seemed happy to see him. I saw Holly and the rest of the dogs run over. Avery jumped out of my arms and ran to them.
[Avery's POV]
I yipped with happiness. I was home. And back with my family. Holly and Brownie tackled me. "Avery!" Holly said wagging her tail. "Holly!" "Avery!" Brownie said barking with joy. "Brownie!" I laughed. "It's good to see you again sweetie," my mother said licking my cheek. "Welcome home son," my father nuzzled me. I smiled. We had a nice little reunion. Me, my family, Katie, Thomas, Danny, and Makayla. It feels so good to be back home where I belong.
