"Moving around, in the middle of the night, is not safe." I said, trying my best to reason with the mull headed man. Tristan only hummed in response, as he continued, stuffing our bags in the back of his vehicle.

"Staying here is not safe either." He replied. The car jerks, when he slammed the trunk.

I rubbed my temple, in frustration. "Why is it, that you always have a response for everything?"

He shrugged in response. Licking my lips, I inched closer to him. "What are you thinking about?" I pressed, my hands against his cheek.

He snaps out his stupor. His eyes met mine, for a few seconds before he looked away. "You and your safety."

"My safety?" I prodded.

"Mhm."

"There is nothing for you to worry about." I said, wrapping my arms around his middle.

Tristan fingers the strands of my hair, hesitantly. I sighed, as I burrowed further into his warmth. My eyes, drooped. I could feel the fatigue settling in.

Something banged against the hood of Tristan's car, I jumped in fright. My legs wrapped around his middle, automatically. Tristan, started to pet my hair. My heart was beating erratically in my chest.

He taps me on the ass. I released my hold on him, reluctantly. Tristan's smile was strained, opening the car door, he motioned for me to get in. I nibbled on my lips.

"Please get in." He pleaded. His eyes were, filled with concern.

I couldn't, say no to those eyes. So I did as I was told, without protesting. Tristan slammed the car door. I watched him, round the car, through the windshield.

He bent, and picked up something from off the ground. His muscles in his, right cheek, twitched as he stared at the piece of brick. I wanted to get out and demand answers, but I already knew that, once he gets like this, there is no reasoning whatsoever with him. I scrapped my nails, against the door.

Tristan toss the brick, across the yard. He then yanked the car door open, sliding behind the wheel. My eyebrows furrowed. He glanced at me, in the review mirror.

His stare was blank. "Rest up a little bit, I'll wake you once we've arrived." He said, ever so softly.

"I'm not tired." I said, dismissing his words. "....won't you tell me what that was all about?"

"Nothing for you to worry about."

"So that brick...."

"Was nothing." He interjects.

I stared at him in determination. "You would tell, me if something was wrong, right?"

Tristan's eyes turns glossy. Once again, he looks away. "Mhm." He hummed.

My head bumped against the window. I guess that's going to have to do, for now.

Even as I watched the lights, disappeared overhead. Something was gnawing at my memories....

It was distant, but at the same time it was ever so familiar......
