Tiana

My heart started to thud in my chest. Which caused the heart monitor to go berserk. Here I was feeling ecstatic about my recovery when I was still hiding a couple things from Tristan. Oh the horror, what must he think of me now?!

I was too scared to even look him in the eyes. I should have made the doctor shoo him away, as well. I wasn't even mentally prepared as yet, for this confession. The doctor poked my shoulder and I hissed. Pain vibrated throughout my entire body. That one poke was enough, to remind me that I was injured. Tch. I gritted my teeth and glared at the doctor who was looking at me, innocently.

"I see, the adrenaline has worn off."

"......" Gee thanks for pointing that out.

The doctor scribbled something on his clipboard. "On a scale of one to ten, how bad is the pain."

Dude can't you read the room. Tristan is being really silent right now! It's obvious that a fuse burst inside his head! He's the one that needs a checkup. "Ten out of ten." I deadpan. "Sending me home will make the pain go away."

Instead of responding, he sighed in frustration. Turning his head, to the side he whispered something in nurse's ears. She bobbed her head a couple of times before hurrying away.

The pain was bearable, besides I am use to pain. It's nothing new to me. My tolerance for pain, was pretty high. Gripping my right shoulder, unconsciously, I caressed the bandage outline.

After prodding around and rambling, the doctor finally took his leave, but not before giving me a shot of antibiotics.

Closing, my eyes I settled down on the bed. Tristan has been, sitting there in silence for over an hour. He hasn't said one thing since, the doctor mentioned the peanut in my stomach. Sighing, I opened my eyes.

As expected, Tristan's green orbs were focused on me.
Deciding to play dumb. I opened and closed my mouth. Tristan beat me to the punch though.

"Why didn't you tell me, you were pregnant?"

I licked my dry lips. Jesus, he just jumped right to the point. How am I suppose to escape from this? Sighing Tristan picked up the cup of ice. Pushing his finger in the cup, he removed one of the ice cubes. I opened my mouth and sucked it inside my mouth. The ice immediately melted on my tongue and I sighed in relief.

"You said, you weren't ready for kids." I blurted out.

Tristan's eyes narrowed at me. "That's no excuse Tiana."

"I wasn't trying to make up an excuse. Think about my situation Tristan." I toyed with the piece of string. "I wanted to tell you so badly. But then your friends... erm Rebecca voiced all my doubts and I thought...."

"You thought I wouldn't accept the child?"

Nibbling on my bottom lip, I bobbed my head.

"Why must you always doubt me?"

"Because you're complicated Tristan, and I didn't want to lose you."

"So instead you lied to me!"

I was guilty as charged.

Tristan pushed the chair back, standing up, he placed the cup of ice cubes on the table. He then pushed his hands in his pocket. "You should get some rest. I have a few things to take care of. I'll come check on you tomorrow morning."

He didn't even wait, for me to respond. Turning on his heels, he ambled out of the room. Seeing his retreating form, exiting the room broke my heart. Why does this scene look so familiar?
