Tiana

After taking a shower and dealing with my oral hygiene. I went in search of Tristan. He was sitting on the balcony, sipping a cup of black coffee. He was tapping away, on his laptop one handedly  I cleared my throat.

"Have you calmed down?" He asked, his eyes connected with mine, over the rim of his cup.

I tugged, on the hem of my oversized t-shirt. "Maybe I overreacted a little bit."

"A little bit?" He repeated.

I bobbed my head.

Tristan closed his laptop. "I ordered breakfast. Come have some."

I never realized. I stared at the table long and hard. A pot of coffee was in the center, scones and bagel with white cheese was laid out on the table. Usually my mouth would water at the sight of food, but not today. I scrunched up my nose. "I'm not hungry."

"Wait what? Since when? Last time I checked, You're always hungry!" Tristan sputtered.

I shrugged. "I guess, I ate way too much last night."

Tristan tapped, his finger on the table top. "Mhmm." He didn't look convinced. I don't know why.

"Did you cancel our flight?" I asked, changing the subject.

He placed his coffee on the table. The smell of freshly made coffee, made me gag internally. Jesus. My eyebrows furrowed. I wanted to chuck the pot and the cup over the balcony, but Tristan would probably think I was going mad. I snorted at my thoughts.

"Is something funny?" Tristan enquired.

I looked, at him blankly. "No... you never answered my question." I said, holding my breath.

I probably look like a bloated fish. The coffee smell was irritating me. I've never had a problem, with the smell of coffee until now.

"No. I think it's best we leave... besides you're itching to see Cathy." He said, grabbing one of the bagels from the basket. My stomach turned, when his teeth sunk into it.

".... um.... I wanted to apologize for earlier."

"Mhmm?" He arched, his eyebrow at me.

"I was acting selfish.... and i didn't mean to. It's just..." He placed, his hand, on top of mine.

"No need to apologize. It's understandable. You were in shock, you never expected this."

I bobbed my head.

"All I want is for you to promise me, that you'll not blame yourself, for Cathy's suicide attempt."

My eyes watered. "I will try not to... I just... She kissed me a while back." I blurted out.

Tristan choked, on his food. His eyes, watered, as he stared at me in shock. He took, a sip, of his coffee. "When did this happen?"

I tugged, at the table clothe. My cheeks, heated in embarrassment. "Um.... it was after the cabin trip.... uh when I...."

"Ended our friendship." Tristan finished, for me.

I stared, at the table top. How could, I ever forget that day? I was, such an idiot. I shook my head. "Mhmm." I finally answered. ".... we were hanging out at The Red Rose, with a couple friends, anyways she was shit faced... so I brought her home and that was when she kissed me...."

"Was she acting weird the next morning?"

"No. She didn't remember, what happened the previous night.... so I brushed it off. I honestly thought it was a misunderstanding, she was going through a rough patch in her life. And I.. .."

"You were naive."

"Mhmm." I agreed.

Tristan held the cup between his palms. "Did you like it?" He asked, grimly.

"Why would, you even ask me that?"

"I am just curious. No need to be so defensive."

"I am not, going to answer that question. You can be a smart ass and a dick sometimes, but I honestly never thought you were an idiot as well."

"You're looking for an argument aren't you? Know this Tiana, I am not in the mood to argue, with you!"

I gnawed at my fingernail. "I am not looking for an argument, you are the one that's looking for an argument! Ever since that night, at my mother's house, you've been acting weird. You're more distant and you're hiding things from me!"

Tristan placed his coffee down on the table. He flipped, his laptop lid open. That only, pissed me off more. Getting up, I stomped, over to where he was. He didn't even look up, so I slammed the lid of his laptop close. His coffee slosh to the side.

That didn't please me one bit. Grabbing the tail, of the table clothe. I yanked at it. The contents on the table, went sailing. Even Tristan's laptop titters over the edge, and fell flat on the ground.

"Stop treating me like a fucking child."

"I am not treating, you like a child! At the moment you are behaving like one though. You need to understand that this relationship, doesn't fucking revolves around you!" Tristan pushed, the table back.

I found myself backing away.

His gaze was prim and his body was rigid.  ".... you hide things from me all the fucking time as well! So why can't, I do the same? I've had it with your little temper tantrums. If you can't grow the fuck up, then I don't see the reason, why we should even continue this relationship!"

My eyes watered. "I...."

"You what? You're sorry, sometimes sorry isn't fucking good enough Tiana!" He spat. "You broke my laptop, just because I asked one stupid question! The only reason I even asked that was because I was feeling slightly jealous, of the fact that Cathy kissed you!"

I bumped into the wall.

"You talk about, people leaving you behind, when the truth is you're the one pushing them away! Is either you clean up, your fucking actions, or I swear to God I will walk!"

With that, he pivots on his heels, and stormed off the balcony. I slid down the wall. Pulling my legs to my chest, I rest my head against my kneecap. Hot tears spattered against my thighs.
