Tiana
I watched Tristan closed his eyes, his breathing was laboured. "Its not just a picture Tiana..... Cathy tried to kill herself because she is in love with you. Seeing that picture made her realized, she wouldn't never get a chance to be with you." He said in a soft tone, which was barely audible.
I was rooted in my spot. Wait that is not possible. My vision blurred, this was all a misunderstanding. No! Even if it's true, why didn't she tell me? I closed my eyes.
Tristan's hand came down on my shoulder, I clung to him. Wrapping my arms around his bulky waist, I rest my head against his torso.
"This is why I didn't want to tell you." Tristan said, fingering my hair.
"This is all just a misunderstanding, you're just pulling my legs, right?"
"I would never lie about something as serious as this."
A lump formed in my throat. "Why, why aren't you shocked about this discovery?" I asked, gripping his butt cheeks.
Tristan sighed. "...because I knew. On the night of the masquerade ball. Martha confided in me."
My body stiffen. "That was months ago, and you never mentioned anything! How could you?!" I pushed him. Tristan's hold tightens on me.
"It wasn't my story to tell." He said, in the tone I hated so much.
He was treating me like a child again. I hated him, for that! I pushed at him again. I wanted to get away. Everyone always lies and keep things from me. It's like they think, I can't handle the truth.
I squirmed around, until he moved away. Tristan, opened the balcony door, grabbing his cigarette, he disappeared behind the thin white curtain. I pulled my legs to my chest.
This is all my fault. I'm such an awful friend. How... how did I not notice? The tears started to flow, freely down my cheeks. I'm sorry Cathy. I'm sorry for not realizing how you felt. I squeezed my eyes shut. Cathy...
Flashback
"Tiana... y... you know you're such a good friend." Cathy slurred. I struggled with her up the steps.
"Since I'm such a good friend... you should start being more considerate and stop getting yourself shit faced."
Her bottom lip, juts out, into a pout. "But... whenever I'm drunk... I feel so free. All my burdens disappear... and my head is so much more clearer." Cathy hiccups. "... you know Tiana. I'm nothing but a fuck up...."
My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "... what do you mean."
She giggled. I really can't talk to this girl, when she gets like this. I pushed the door to our apartment open.
Cathy patted, my cheek. "You're my hero Tiana! My hero!" She shouted. I flinched, my ears started to ring.
"Can you not shout in my ears?"
Cathy, giggled once more. Sighing, I closed the door. We hobbled over to the old couch in the center of the room. I pushed her down, as gently as possible in the couch.
Cathy's head lull to the side. Her blond hair, cascades down the side of her neck... her cheeks were flushed. Cathy grabs a hold of my hand. "You know Tiana, I love you so much."
My face splits into a grin. "I love you too."
Cathy pulled, me down on her lap. I gasped in shock. What the hell, has gotten into her? She cupped, my cheeks. Her eyes, peered into mine.
"I don't think you understand, what I'm saying."
"Don't be a doofus. You know I love you, like a sister."
Her lips pursed. "I'll never think of you as a sister." Cathy's head, bumped against mine. "....Tiana I love you so much, it hurts." Her breath ghosts over my lips.
I could smell, the stench of alcohol and cigars on her breath. Cathy leaned in, my body tensed up. Wait, what the hell? Before i could form, a coherent thought, her lips covered mine, without hesitation.
She groaned, in my mouth. "I've been wanting to do this for months." She said, against my lips.
I was too shock to even move a muscle. She forced, her tongue into my mouth. A sicken, twisted feeling formed in the pit of my stomach, my mind finally caught up. I pushed, at her hard. Her hold loosens up, I ended up falling on my ass.
Cathy stared, at me in confusion. Standing up, I wiped my mouth, with the back of my hand, vigorously. Cathy licked her lips.... she smiled ruefully at me.
I stood there staring at her in shock. My mind was slowly registering what just happened. After some time, her head touched the back of the couch. All that was heard through out the apartment, was her light snores.
My heart pounded against my chest. Pivoting on my heels, I bolted to my bedroom.
What the hell was that about?'
