Tiana

All the air left the room. Everyone's attention was suddenly focused on my stomach. My hands shook, so i tighten my hold on the silverware. The door bell chimed loudly throughout the room.

A sigh of relief escaped my lips. Saved by the bell! If I opened my mouth, then Tristan would probably realize that I was lying. So it's best I kept my mouth shut.

"I will get it." Jessie said. He sprung up out of the chair. Without looking back, he bolted out of the room.

Tristan cleared his throat. "Carolyn that's preposterous." Tristan said. ".... Tiana and I have always been careful."

No we weren't careful. If we were careful, I wouldn't be two month pregnant right now. I gripped the ice cream container on both side.

"And besides, now is not the time for kids." He ran his fingers around the mouth of his cup.

A chill ran through my body at the sound of that. I shouldn't be surprised of course, I expected this. Isn't that the reason, why I was hiding my pregnancy from him?

I licked my, dried lips. Jessie shuffled back into the kitchen. He stepped aside to allow, the person inside. To my surprise it was Doctor Bennett. My stomach churned. Great things has worsen. Just as the attention was shifted off of me.

"This is doctor Bennett. He is here to see, Tiana." Jessie said in a bubbly voice.

Tristan's eyes connected with mine. I quickly looked away, before he could see the look of vulnerability in my eyes. My heart was thudding in my chest, my palms were also sweating.

"I apologize for intruding."

"No need to apologize. I am actually taken aback, Tiana never mentioned a Doctor Bennett."

He smiled, showing off his crooked teeth. "Miss Evans and I just met, recently."

Tristan bobbed his head. "Interesting."

"I actually stopped by, to drop off your results seeing as you bolted out of my office yesterday." Doctor Bennett removed the envelope from his jacket pocket.

My blood ran cold. Fuck! I don't think I was breathing.

"I never knew doctors made door to door calls now." Tristan drawled.

".... we actually don't. I lived a couple blocks from here so I decided to drop her results off before heading home to hit the sack."

"Results? Tiana you never told me, you went to take blood tests." Tristan said, glowering at me. "Also what are these test results for?"

Could I even lie, under these circumstances. I wanted the ground to swallow me up. Every eyes in the room once again turned towards me and my stomach.
