The Struggle

Sydney's POV.

Once we enter the building, the music is even louder than it was outside. After we hand the ticket collector our tickets we enter the gym. I can't help but gasp at how beautiful it looks. Usually the gym is covered in championship banners and smells like sweat, but tonight, there's shiny silver stars coming down from the ceiling and white Christmas lights draped on the ceiling and throughout the room. It looks like something out of a fairytale.

"Do you want something to drink?" Luke asks me as we approach the refreshments area.

"No not yet thanks though"

"Yup"

"C'mon let's go dance!!" I suggest to Luke.

"Naw I'm good. I don't really dance. I'll watch you."

"Pleaseee?" I plead with puppy eyes.

"Fine. One song until the slow songs."

It's quite amusing to see how uncomfortable Luke is on the dance floor. Anywhere else he's cocky and confident but tonight he's acting very awkward.

"What's wrong?" I yell through the blaring music.

"This is weird. C'mon let's go stand and we can watch." before I can protest, Luke is pulling my off the dance floor and over to a large group of people. As I'm scanning through the group that he's bringing me to, there's one face in particular that stands out.

Ashton's POV.

Knock knock

"Yeah?" I ask my mum

"So I was wondering what your plans were for tonight?"

"This" I say as I motion towards my drum set.

"Don't you ever get bored of doing that? You do this every night."

"No, I don't get bored of it, that's why I do this every night."

"I heard that there was the homecoming dance at school, you're not going?"

"No, I never go to any of the dances. They're all boring."

"How would you know if you never go to any?"

"Mum."

"You're going. Get ready we're leaving in thirty minutes."

"Mum no!" I plead with her, "I don't even have any tickets!" I say as she pulls one out of her pocket.

"Get ready!"

Thirty minutes later I'm in the car, and on my way to hell.
