*Violet's POV*

"We've searched nearly the entire town and there's no sign of the Quagmires," I complained. The Village of Fowl Devotees was trashed by Olaf's troupe last night and the insufferable villagers were making us clean it. Klaus, Sunny and I thought that we might be able to find them if we looked hard enough.

" Portu, " Sunny agreed solemnly. I sighed and checked the next thing on our list of chores. " Mop up the sasperillas spilled in the abandoned firehouse saloon." I read as Klaus seemed to get an idea.  " If it's abandoned, Olaf might've stashed them there since nobody would go in there! " he explained triumphantly. We rushed in quickly and immediately spied the bright red salmon statue we knew they would be in last. Klaus and I began to claw at a line splitting the fish in half. "Grab that fin and pull!" I suggested, doing the same with the fin close to me. The statue opened up, but our friends weren't inside. The only sign that anyone had been in there was a small carving.

"D. Q. plus V. B.?" Klaus read aloud.
"Duncan must've been in here." I whispered as I felt my face turn as red as the fish statue.

" Goom! " Sunny called from behind me. She meant something along the lines of "Get a room, Violet!" Klaus scooped her up as we walked out of the saloon. If I were a cute guy and his sister, where would I be? I thought to myself, earning a small giggle. Klaus furrowed his brow. "Klaus? What is it?"

"It may be nothing. But it may be everything." I nodded for him to continue. "Everything here has been vandalized... Except the Foul Fountian. As if someone didn't want it being tampered with as it was being cleaned... Even Isadora's couplets spell out half of the word fountian."

" The fountain! Of course! You're brilliant, Klaus! "
"Isadora is brilliant."

I smiled to myself as we hastily made our way to Foul Fountain. "Duncan?" I called to it. "Isadora?" Klaus yelled.

"Baudelaires!" Isadora's voice cried out, although it was muffled by big bird they were trapped inside. "How do we get you out?" I asked them quickly. I wanted them to be safe as soon as possible. Duncan responded that we needed to pull the bottom beak down. Klaus and I hesitantly lifted out baby sister up to the beak. "Wigou." She said down it. I bet even the Quagmires knew that she meant 'we'll get you out'. I lost my footing and Klaus and I fell to the ground, but Sunny was still clinging to the beak. She was lowered closer to us as the beak opened wider until it was too steep for her fingers to hold on to. Klaus and I broke Sunny's fall, thank goodness, as the fountian opened up.

*Isadora's POV*

The fountian opened up and Duncan and I immediately stepped out to hug them tightly. "Thank you." I whispered to Klaus as we embraced eachother. Duncan asked me if I wanted to carve Klaus and my names into the red herring statue, but I really couldn't bring myself to do it. Even if Klaus did feel the same way, I'm sure he wouldn't want to date at all, especially since he was only twelve. "You must've found the poems!" Duncan said to the Baudelaires, although he couldn't stop looking at Violet.

"Only half of them." Klaus explained, "We'll talk more later. Right now, we need to get out of here!" Duncan and I nodded as we speedwalked out of town. When we were maybe a mile from town, I decided to make conversation. "How did you guys find us?" I asked.

"We saw the red herring statue; that's how we knew you were close." Violet responded happily. Duncan blushed, "You didn't happen to see anything written inside, did you?" He asked her. Violet shook her head, "We uh didn't have time to examine it closely. " she replied unconvincingly. My jaw practically hit the floor, "EXPOSED!" I quipped , making them both blush. "We can talk about that later," Violet said crossly. I looked at Duncan, who looked kind of worried. I could tell he was nervous about whether she was cross for me bringing it up or if she didn't like Duncan in that way, which is complete crap since they cannot ever stop staring at eachother until the other looks at them. "Okay... How did you find out we were in the fountian without the next two couplets?" I inquired. Klaus smiled at my curiosity, "Lucky guess, I suppose." I nodded softly as we walked to the house that was in the distance in silence.

"Isadora, may I talk to you?" Klaus stopped me before we went into Hector's house, as Violet said that this was his house. I nodded softly as we sat down at the table on the porch. "Izzie, you gave me something at Prufrock and I was waiting for the best moment to give it back. "

"If it's the other half of the spyglass, it's fine. You can totally keep it in case if anything goes wrong." I assured him. He took a deep breath before continuing. "I don't think anything will go wrong; I'll see you inside before long." He recited an altered version of my couplet before kissing my lips lightly and walking back inside, leaving me dumbfounded and even a little lovestruck... That's about when I realized that I'm in love with Klaus Baudelaire.

*Klaus' POV*

"Oh my God; I didn't just do that. " I thought to myself as I leaned against the closed door, "Who even was that? Certainly not me. I would have stuttered through that and been to much of a shy dork to kiss her at all..."

I felt on top of the world that I had managed to steal a kiss from Isadora Quagmire in the first place, much less say something somewhat romantic along with it. Mother used to tell Violet and I that Father was such a flirt in his day, and I couldn't help but wonder if that was a surge of confidence given to me by my dad. I was always told I looked just like him, even down to the glasses. I missed them a lot, especially since my thirteenth birthday was coming up and they promised to give me the best birthday in the world. I turned the corner to the hallway and decided that it would save Violet and Duncan the embarrassment if I didn't interrupt them kissing. Violet was against the wall with her arms around his neck and his hands were on her waist and I could 100% see tongue in the two seconds spent looking at them in shock. I sat down at the dining table as I thought that it might be better for it to be interrupted, especially if things got more... handsy, one might say. "Violet, stop trying to chew his face off." I called, staring down at the table. The two of them walked into the kitchen blushing profusely and holding hands, but standing a distance away from eachother awkwardly.

"I see you two spoke the unspoken thing." I quipped, opening a water bottle. Violet laughed nervously, quietly thanking Duncan for showing her a good time. I pretended to gag as Duncan was shown to his room. "Lucky me!" I thought sarcastically, " I'm sharing a room with my best friend who has probably also mentally undressed my sister! "Violet scowled at me, "Klaus, I know what you're thinking and I want you to stop it." She said angrily, "Duncan is a gentleman and knows that I deserve to be treated with respect and would never do anything to me without my consent." I considered it. "I guess you're right. Sorry."

" You are forgiven. "

*Duncan's POV; a few minutes earlier*

"Violet? May I talk to you?" I asked her. I felt instantly drawn to Violet Baudelaire the moment I met her and I wanted to actually tell her how I feel. She nodded softly, "I think we should."

" I don't know a proper way to start this conversation, so I'm just going to come out and say that I'm in love with you. I know you probably don't feel as strongly about me as I do you, but I'll wait for you if you want me to. " I was very worried about what she would say, especially since I laid it all out there. I had never felt a stronger feeling toward anyone and I couldn't help but let it be known exactly how I feel. I was ecstatic when instead of replying with words, she crashed her lips onto mine as her arms wrapped around my neck. I happily kissed back with as much enthusiasm as I set my hands on her waist. Maybe a minute later, we heard Klaus call to Violet, telling her to stop trying to chew my face off. We both blushed as we stepped into the kitchen. "I see you two spoke the unspoken thing," Klaus quipped.

Violet laughed nervously from beside me. "Thanks for showing me a good time," she whispered as Hector came into the room and offered to direct me to the room I'd be sharing with Klaus. He probably thought I was a giant pervert for kissing his sister like that... Especially like that. But we were best friends and I'm sure we could come to an understanding.
