*Duncan's POV*
I walked into my goddess of a girlfriend's inventing studio. "Hey, Vi, whatcha working on?" I asked, kissing her cheek after she wiped her face with a rag.

She looked up at me with a big grin and said, "It's not what I'm working on; It's what I finished!" She exclaimed, stepping away from the odd... Thing... she finished.

"What is it?" I asked, looking at the dials and buttons and stuff on a small pedestal atop a disk-like platform. Violet pulled me onto it and whispered in my ear.

"I invented a time machine."
" What!? That's incredible, Violet! That's unbelievable! How does it work? "
"Okay so I input an exact date, time, and location, to wherever we wish to visit. You wanna take it for its second drive? I already test flew it a bit to make some jump modifications."

This seemed pretty dangerous. I mean like... I've seen Back To The Future. We might get stuck in time or rip a hole in the space time continuum. "Violet, we can't... What about now? What if we alter something in the timeline and create a butterfly effect or something!?"

"It's all good, D. I trust that you won't fuck anything up!" She joked, dialing a specific day into the keypad on the pedestal.
"Where are we going?"
" When! When, my dear! " She corrected with a smile, "We're going to the past!"

I looked at her quizzically. That's really specific, sweetie! I gave her one of my smiles. Yeah you know what I'm talking about. "Vi, come on. Come on. When are we going? Come on."

She snickered. "That's for me to know and for you to find out." She said sweetly with a smirk.

Sometimes my girlfriend... can be something. Just one of the perks of dating a goddess, I guess...

But I love her! I mean how could you not!?

I chuckled softly and set my hand on Violet's shoulder and tried to peer at what she was doing. Even though she said a really vague time, the one she was dialing in was far too specific. "Violet, isn't that the day we met?"
She nodded.
"And we can easily alter the past and possibly make it so we never met?"
Again a nod, but this one was less enthusiastic.
I jumped off the disk. "We're not going."

" But why not, Duncan? " She asked, looking very disappointed as she sat down, her legs hovering Why not? Because we could end up stalling little Carmelita so she didn't make fun of the Baudelaires. We could make it so Isadora and I -well our past selves- didn't make it to lunch somehow.

'Quit thinking so loudly, Duncan, I'm trying to take a nap.' Quigley thought.
'At ten in the morning you're taking a nap?!' I thought back and we left eachother alone.

"We could ruin something about how we met that'll make us meeting.... Disappear..." I said softly.
"Please, Duncan!? I really want to go here!"
" Violet, we're not going to alter our past no matter how much we want to. Isn't how it all turned out good enough? We're together! Klaus and Isadora are trying to ease themselves into their own relationship. My brother wasn't dead the whole time I thought he was! You saw how I damn fainted when I found out Quigley is alive! He even has a girlfriend he's been with for more than three weeks! "

"Duncan, I'm not trying to alter the past! I'm trying to propose goddamnit!"

Leave it to Violet to pull this out of the blue! I was so smiley I felt like my jaw was about to fall off. "You invented something that can move through time and space.... so we could watch us meeting and then propose to me?"
"Yeah basically..." She said, staring at the ground with her face very red.
"Well I had a similar idea, but no time travel."

She looked up at me with a confused grin. I could practically hear her screaming to elaborate. I pulled a black velvet box out of my pocket and opened it up to reveal a shiny ring. "I've been trying to find the right time. I guess you won with the time and stuff..." I chuckled, " So, Violet, you wanna get married? " I asked, already fully aware of what her answer will be.

She jumped up and hugged me. "I will marry you, Duncan Quagmire!" She said, brushing her lips against mine and stealing the box from my hand. She plucked the ring from the box and put it on her finger, admiring the way it sparkled. "I'm not always a fan of sparkly things, but I just can't get enough of this ring." She added after a few moments.

"I knew you'd like it." I said softly.
"I say we have our honeymoon in the 70's!"
" I love you. "
"I love you more!"
" Impossible!"

"No, Quigley, you're not going to 1095 just for a crusade!"
