*Isadora's POV*
Klaus and I were hanging out in the library when it finally happened. We always joked that the bookshelf of Klaus' favorite books would collapse, but I didn't expect it to actually happen. "Isadora, could you help me with some of these books if you're not busy?" Klaus asked. Naturally, I absolutely couldn't say no to the adorable bookworm, and I say that as a term of endearment.
" Of course, " I chirped. To tell you the truth, I had a crush on him the size of Jupiter. Klaus Baudelaire was smart, funny, polite, and so gosh darn handsome! Ha! I thought "gosh darn" ! What next? Gee willikers! By golly! Jeepers! I am a crack up!

He smiled at me as I giggled lightly from my thoughts. "I'm going to go get us more water," he said, leaving with both of our glasses. What a gentleman! Quigley, bro, take notes. I snickered and set the books Klaus had handed me on the shelf. The shelf groaned as what was probably the six-thousandth book was placed on it's shelf. I frowned at it, not having enough time to get out of the way before it collapsed, sending a few books into my head and at my face, knocking me to the ground.

"Isadora!" Klaus shouted. I heard breaking glass, assuming he'd dropped our drinks to the ground to get to me quicker. I groaned as I stumbled to my feet. "Careful," he warned, trying to help me maintain balance.
"Ow," I sighed, not knowing much else to say.
"How many fingers am I holding up, Izzie?"
" Um four. "
"Good." He said, sighing in relief. He suddenly paused. "Isadora, your lip..."
" What? What about it? " I asked, touching my bottom lip. There was a speckle of blood on my finger. "Oh."
"It's alright. I'll patch you up."

I smiled weakly at him as he held my hand to help me out of the pile of books. "My head hurts," I whined.
" I'll get you an ice pack. I promise."

I know that I was hurt, but oh my goodness he didn't need to do this for me! I could've done it on my own and then clean up the mess of books.
"I know what you're thinking and it's really no problem at all. Not to mention if your head hurts, you shouldn't be performing tasks of manual labor." He insisted. "Watch out for the broken glass. I'll clean that up while you rest."

I love how caring he is. He led me into the closest bathroom and sat me down on the small bench usually for towels. Klaus took a tissue and held it to my lip. We were so close. Oh my God I feel like I'm about to hyperventilate! He seemed a bit uncomfortable as well, so I slowly took the tissue from him, my fingers skimming over his hand. We smiled shyly at eachother as our faces turned bright red. Does he like me back?! Yay yay yay! It actually explains a lot. "Um thank you..." I said sheepishly. We locked eyes for what seemed like forever.

"Oh um you're welcome... It really is no problem at all. Follow me. I'll grab you that ice pack and you can rest in bed." He said, the words streaming out continuously as we averted our gazes.

*Klaus' POV*

I helped Isadora to her feet and held her close to me protectively. I felt a sense of guilt for her getting hurt, since I was the one who asked her to help me. My sweet little angel got hurt and it's my fault... Isadora Quagmire is intelligent, beautiful, passionate, talented, I could go on about her forever. She blushed when we were close, which led me to believe she returns my affections. She continually insisted that she was fine and she could help me clean up "her mess", but I felt pretty bad about her getting her lip busted on a book because I like keeping my shelves stocked. Why do I have to be such a stupid bookworm?

She could see the pained expression I was trying to hide. I didn't want to face my demons, so she shouldn't have to face them either. "Hey, this isn't your fault!" She exclaimed, "I'm fine! You like reading a lot, so what? You make time for the literary arts. That's pretty damn noble, if you ask me."
" I'm not noble, " I muttered, my face red from her compliment. I wanted to hide.
"You're noble enough, Klaus." She insisted, her beautiful green eyes meeting my brown ones, locked away by bad eyesight and a pair of prescription glasses. She cupped my face comfortingly, making both of us blush since we were so close. " Can I kiss you?" She blurted out.
"What?"
" Nevermind. I'm sorry. I'm stupid. Just forget I said anything! Better yet, forget this entire day even happened. Both of us would prefer it that way. " She said frantically before running into her room and slamming the door. I heard her weeping behind it.

"Isadora, can we talk? I brought you the ice pack I promised you." I asked after knocking on the door. There was no answer. "I'm coming in, Isadora. We need to talk and you know it." As I was about to open the door, it flung open and revealed Izzie. Her eyes were puffy from crying and I couldn't bear to see her like this. It was even worse seeing her busted lip with the tears staining her cheeks. She snatched the ice pack from my hands and thanked me for upholding my promise before welcoming me in.

"Um. So earlier... W-why did you ask me if you could kiss me?" I asked, sitting at the foot of her bed. She curled up into a ball of embarrassment next to her pillow.
"I kind of have a crush on you... But that doesn't matter since you don't like me like that and I'm a fool for thinking otherwise."
" You have it twisted, Love. I have the crush on you. You're the one too good for me. " I blurted out. 'Love?' I thought, 'That's so stupid and cliche I should punch myself in the face. '

"How about we just go on one date; see where that takes us," she suggested, "If it sucks, we can forget about these crushes. If we have a good time, we can pursue this relationship further..."

" You're there? Sounds like a good time to me. " I grinned. "Now please get some rest so I don't feel so lousy about this. We can talk about this date later when your head doesn't wield pins and needles."

She laid down on her bed, smiling shyly. I draped a spare blanket over her and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "How's that kiss for you?" I asked as she blushed deep red.

"Just what I needed." She said quietly, snuggling up to a stuffed bear. I smiled at her before leaving, doing a little happy dance around the hallway. I get to go on a date with Isadora Quagmire!
