*Violet's POV*

And now, Count Olaf is at Prufrock as well. Just great...

"What are we going to do?" I asked, my voice trembling.
"What if he hurts more people here?" Klaus wondered aloud.
"Allies," Sunny agreed, meaning "I'd be particularly devastated if Miss Caliban or Duncan and Isadora were hurt." Klaus and I translated.
"He'd.... He'd do that?" Isadora stuttered, "I'm scared. What if-"
" I won't let him hurt you," Klaus interjected, "Um... We won't let him hurt anyone. " He corrected himself as his face turned as red as Isadora's. Klaus had an adorable and obvious crush on my new friend.

"Absolutely correct, Klaus," I helped, " There's nothing he won't do to get the fortune, but we won't let him lay a finger on anybody... "
"Already Nero..." Sunny pointed out.
"Oh my God, Sunny." I said, covering my face.
"What did she say?" Duncan asked. I am not telling that innocent cutie what my sister just said.
Klaus and I assured him we were not going to translate that...

I was scared. Olaf is a danger to society and I couldn't imagine what he was concocting this time... Would he murder the teachers? Kidnap one of my siblings or me? He literally hypnotized Klaus. I thought that just existed in horror movies, but nope! Hypnosis is real and my life is a lie. "We need to convince everyone that he's dangerous!"

"He has everyone wrapped around his greasy finger! How are we supposed to convince the entire student body AND staff?" Isadora frowned, "It's hopeless!"

Duncan's face said it wasn't hopeless. He was grinning eat to ear. "Dunc? Duncan? What's the cute grin for?" I asked.
" Um, Violet? " Isadora tried to get my attention.
"I know what I said. What's up with the grin?"
"I'm known to be quite persuasive... I could do a little research, I probably get Nero to come to his senses... It'd also exercise my journalist skills." Duncan stated, acting as if he wasn't blushing bright red. I smirked at him.

Whipped, whipped, whippity, whipped! God, he's a dream!

*Duncan's POV*

Really, Violet, not the time... I thought. She's absolutely perfect, but oh my goodness, her timing isn't the best... I'll see what I can dig up in the new computer lab and newspapers in the library. "We oughta get some shut eye, everyone." I offered, gathering my bag and commonplace notebook. Isadora rolled her eyes and followed suit. "Bye, Baudelaires..." I said.
"No bye!" Sunny exclaimed.
"She means that this isn't goodbye. See you tomorrow, Quagmires." Klaus translated as we shut the door to the dismal shack.
"Should we be walking around alone? What if Olaf finds us? I mean, we sat next to the Baudelaires during the recital, so obviously he'd know we're friends with them. I don't think it's safe getting back to the dorms across campus."

I thought about it. It didn't seen safe; It seemed scary and dangerous. "But it's not bravery if it's not scary. And where would we be without bravery, Isadora?" I countered.
"Back where we began." She answered quietly. We looked at the door of the Orphans Shack. We signed at the small tin door. The Baudelaires... Those poor, poor people. They had eachother, and they also had us.

"We have eachother." I whispered. Isadora nodded in agreement and we made the frightening journey back to our dorm room. My fingers trembled as I looked up and down the halls.

"Vice Principal Nero, if I could just have a moment or two of your time..." I said in my best polite voice - a journalist's secret weapon.
" Make. It. Quick." He said through gritted teeth. I nodded.
"I'm here to talk to you about... Coach Genghis..." I hesitated at his temporary alias. I laid out a few articles and database lists.

"These are from the database of Gym Teachers. Somehow that exists..." I explained.
"Probably for plot convenience..."
"And there is no mention of anything Genghis. That means that he's lying about at least his name."

"Maybe you're right, Dylan."
" Duncan. "
"Yes I meant to say Dennis."

I sighed and picked up a photo of Count Olaf and a piece of paper in the shape of a turban.
"What does that dastardly villain have to do with this?"
" Coach Genghis is Count Olaf in disguise."

Nero was in stunned disbelief. "That's impossible. Next, you're going to say that your girlfriend is Count Olaf - what's her name... The eldest wealthy orphan in the shack?"
"Her name is Violet and Olaf isn't disguised as her," I defended, " Look at this." I took the turban shaped paper and covered the unibrow of Olaf's photograph.

"Wait a minute!" Nero leapt up from his seat, " What if Coach Genghis' turban is covering his one eyebrow? " He wondered aloud as if he'd thought of the idea.
"That's a good idea, Vice Principal Nero," I entertained, "Now look at this." I had sketched out a foot with an eye tattooed onto the ankle. I'm not the best artist, but it looked like an ankle... I took a drawing of an expensive looking running shoe and covered the ankle. The eye wasn't to be seen.

"What if Coach Genghis is really Count Olaf and his shoes cover his tattoo!?"
" That's a handsome accusation. "
"Oh but Coach Genghis couldn't be Olaf! He's been so... Uh... Friendly."
" His name isn't here in the database. Parts of his outfit could easily disguise Olaf's hallmarks. Please look into this, Vice Principal Nero. "
"I will! Thank you, Dorian!"
" Duncan."
"Whatever, Devan."

What the fuck is wrong with that guy? Either way, he's going to find out that Genghis is a fraud.

And two days later, Olaf was shipped off to jail.

"You'll regret the day you ever met me, Baudelosers!" Olaf called.
"We already do!" Klaus shouted back as Olaf was dragged into the backseat of a cop car.
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Duncan." Violet said, hugging me tightly. "You have no idea how grateful I am! You're the reason that awful monster is gone!"
" It's really nothing. If you ask Nero, my name is either Dylan, Dennis, Dorian, or Devan."
"He's called me Veronica plenty of times."

Does he do this to everyone or just orphans? Probably option B... Violet still hadn't let go of me and I'm not sure if she was going to.
" Roomie!" Sunny exclaimed.
"Sunny says to get a room." Klaus said to us.

Violet pulled away, her face bright red as she toyed with a strand of hair timidly. No wonder I like her...

"Where go?"
"Where do we go from here?" Violet translated.
"We continue our lives until were old enough to unlock the fortunes." Isadora said.
"I could build the printing press for Quagmire-Baudelaire Incorporated."
"And we could print my articles."
" My poems."
"Books too!"
" Recipe!" Sunny added.

Sunny meant two kinds of recipes. A cooking recipe and also a recipe for our future. It'd be quite the future too...
