The Date That Didn't

(For lack of a better title lmao)
*Duncan's POV*

Okay. Today's the day. Today's the day. "C'mon, Quagmire, you can do this. You can ask her." I was trying to psych myself up for an important question to ask Violet. We had been secretly dating for a while; probably a month now. There wasn't a specific reason for us being a secret, we both just kind of decided that nobody really needed to know. We told our siblings, of course, and our close friend Fiona, but that's about it. I thought it was time we took our relationship publicly...

"Hi, Duncan!" Violet said as I approached.
"Hello. I have a question for you."
"I might have an answer for you." She replied with a grin. My brain was near malfunctioning at the sight of her beautiful smile.
"I was wondering if maybe you'd like to go see a movie with me? And get some dinner?" I asked sheepishly.
"That sounds like fun. Anyone else coming?"
" I was hoping it would be just the two of us. Like a date. In public."

Violet inhaled sharply. "A horror movie and then Cheesecake Factory? I'm really trying to sell you on this, you know." I added. She chuckled lightly.
"Sounds great. Duncan?"
" Yes? "
"I'm paying for the bill."
"No I am."
"No I am."
"No I am."
"If you insist, Duncan." She said with a smile. That was the original plan so she was just messing with me, I guess...

I placed a soft kiss on her cheek. "The movie is at six. I'll pick you up at your dorm room." She nodded and I walked towards my next class. Carmelita apparently overheard that conversation and wouldn't stop bothering me and teasing me about it. Honest to God I wanna punch her in the face sometimes... Most times.... ALL THE TIME.

*Violet's POV*

Yay! Duncan asked me on a date! He actually wants to be seen with me! Well, I mean like, who wouldn't? A horror movie? Gosh he's such a dork! Duncan's probably hoping I get scared right into his arms. Little does he know...

... That's probably what will happen.

Later that day, I was waiting for Duncan to come pick me up. It was nearing 5:45, so I decided I'd meet him halfway. What happened next was a blur. I was pushed against the wall by some guy I think I have geometry with. "Leave me alone!" I shouted. " DUNCAAAAAAAAAAN!"
"Sorry, Princess, but the boss said this little date here is gonna have to be compromised." The guy stayed extremely close to me and gripped my arm so tight it was bound to leave a mark. I wasn't strong enough to get him off of me even though I continued to struggle.

"Leave her alone!" I heard somebody shout. I didn't need to look to know it was Duncan. I tried really hard to get the guy off of me. Duncan pulled the guy away from me and kicked him to the ground and kicked him in a few places. "You looked like you needed a hand..." He chuckled. I wrapped him into a tight hug and a string of thank yous followed.

"Thank you. He said something about the boss wanting our date to be compromised, to paraphrase."
"Intriguing. And you do know about the kill switch, right?"
"HOW COME I DIDN'T THINK OF THAT?"
"I won't hold it against you. You want a shot at this asshole?"

I nodded and kicked him in the ribs as hard as I could. "I'm sorry, Duncan."
" Vi, why on earth would you be sorry? If anything, I'm sorry. I mean like... How could I let this happen?"
"I'm fine," I said, cupping his face in my hands, "My knight in shining armor Duncan Quagmire swooped in to save the day! I love you so much!" I hugged him really tightly.
" V-vi, I... love you too.... but you're.... crushing my ribs... "
"Oh. Sorry. Can I go out some ice on my arm?" I asked, gesturing to my forearm which was already turning black and blue.

"I'm ready to go." I said after I put together an ice pack.

"Violet, if you don't feel like going out right now, we can reschedule and I can go."
" I only want to do one of those things."
"Please be rescheduling."
"Of course it is. We're going to stay here and watch a movie. I think there's leftovers in the fridge. I know it's pretty far from the wonderful date you had planned, but it's still cozy. No reason to let this Boss person ruin our time together."

Duncan pulled me onto his lap and kissed my cheek. "Good because I really like spending time with you." I blushed darkly and pushed a piece of hair behind my ear. We went on Netflix and just binge-watched My Babysitter's A Vampire. "It's Friday..." I said, noticing how late it was.
"Are you asking me to pull an all nighter with you watching tv?"
I giggled a bit.

"We don't have to be watching tv..."
