I've been in between a rock and a hard place
I've been biting my tongue to save some face
I should be over this, but I'm not quite there yet
It'll take time and I'll be fine moving ahead
You had a huge fight with Nick resulting in him breaking up with you for Judy. You weren't special enough for him. He wanted someone who was completely different from him and you weren't good enough. You were a rare cat hybrid called a nekomata. Your fur was a silky smoke grey and black color.

You were devastated. You tried telling yourself that he wasn't worth the tears, but it still hurt to lose to some dumb bunny.

Not sure where I'm going, only time will tell us
The fear of never knowing finally bit the dust-/
You didn't know what your next move was. He forced you out of the apartment and you had nowhere to go. Because of the harsh severing of ties with the fox, you had burned quite a few bridges with good friends.

Everyone except Felix.

I'd rather be my own best friend than my worst enemy
I'm one day closer to being who I wanna be
He took your hand and helped you with your luggage as he welcomed you into his small home. His warm smile and kindness reminded you that things weren't over.

La de da de da de da deee
Mmmmmm
I know I know I know
who I'd rather be
Felix was such a gentleman and he certainly knew how to treat a lady. It wasn't long before you had found yourself discarding that old memory of love with that dumb fox.

There are nights when I lay awake and restless
Wondering if letting go was for the best
It's scary then, it's scary now, as I move on
Rain ends the drought, the sun comes out, It won't be long
You were woke up by a phone call one night. It was Nick, things weren't going well in bunny burrow with Judy. He called wanting you back.

Felix overheard the call and saw your distress. You had finally let go of him and were happy. He wasn't going to let you be forced back.

He grabbed the phone from you.
"She's not interested. Now if you would kindly leave my girlfriend alone, that would be appreciated. Goodnight" he hung up.

You were stunned. Girlfriend, Felix called you his girlfriend. You liked the sound of it, but was he serious?

Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
Your own best friend?
He turned to look at you flustered face. He smiled as he leaned in.

"I really do like you, would you like to consider....? If not, I completely understand"

" Yes! Oh Felix! " you gasped, kissing and hugging him.

Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
your own worst enemy?
He held his arms out as he laid back in bed. You immediately dove in after him, curling into his warmth.

Who needs some sly fox when you have this charming loyal man?

Oh uwoh, oh uwoh oh
oh uwoh, uwoh oh

Oh uwoh, oh uwoh oh
oh uwoh, uwoh oh
Things started getting better with Nick out of your life. You had a job with Felix and a nice apartment together.

Could we pause it for a sec
and put it into retrospect,
Everything that happened was for the best
Nick had approached you at the diner while Felix was busy. He started to apologize for his behavior. He was now broke and on his way to an eviction notice. The ZPD, let him go on the count of his alcohol abuse. He asked if there was any hope left for the two of you in the future.

"No, Nick. If you had thought about what you were doing to me in the beginning, we wouldn't have gotten into this situation. I had to let those hopes go, So that I could move on. You should do the same"

He left disheartened, but understanding.

I had my good intent,
but the dreams turned into dreamt
Where I was content
turned into resent
He tried countless times to try reasoning with you, but you held firm. Felix too tried to get you to see where the fox was coming from. You wouldn't budge. You had to pull yourself up out of the mud hole in life in order to move on. You would be fanned if you were gonna let Nick pull you back down.

Felix understood, but still tried to get you to at least sympathize with the man that Not only tore you apart, but tore himself to pieces along the way.

There was a point where I was convinced that suffering made it better
I've never been more wrong
When I hit rock bottom, it's difficult to remember
Why I had to write this song
It has been three years now. You spent so long mulling over those painful years. You tortured yourself into thinking that it was all your fault and not his, but Nick has proven otherwise. The two of you are back to being on good terms and talking again. Even though Felix had left you, he was the key reason you've made it this far.

Things got rough from time to time, but as long as you remembered what you've overcome, you'd be alright.

Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
Your own best friend?
You've learned that sometimes, over thinking your problems make things worse. The best thing to do in that case, is to sit back and breathe for a minute.

Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
Or your own worst enemy?
You also learned that you are here for a good time, not a long one. So, life is too short to be pissing off everyone you meet. Life is much better when you have a shoulder to cry on that won't stab you in the back in return.

Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
Your own best friend?
You smile as you hummed a tune. You walked down the drive to the section he was resting. A bouquet in your hand as the rainy forecast began to clear.

Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
Oh would you rather be?
Or your own worst enemy?
You came to a stop seeing his sister visiting and waited your turn. The clouds rolled away, letting the sun shine through.

Oh uwoh, oh uwoh oh,
oh uwoh, oh uwoh oh,
You knelt down to place the flowers upon the cold granite slab beside his old hat. The small bundle of fur in your sling, squirmed restlessly.

I'd rather be my own best friend than my worst enemy
I'm one day closer to being who I wanna be
"Shh, It's alright little one. I'm just here to say goodbye to an old friend" you crooned to them.

"Thank you Felix, for everything. Rest easy now, your job is done" you said brushing the dust away from his headstone.

You walked off to rejoin your husband as your child fussed slightly.
