"ARE LUIGI AND MARIO REALLY PLUMBERS?" Faye blinked, skipping alongside Y/n as the both of them headed down to the lab. Inside it was said to be the robot corpse that Peter had kept his end of the deal with, the evidence being a hunk of metal that stayed still in Tony's lab. He prodded and poked at it with furrowed brows, turning his head up at the arrival of the girls.
Tony sighed, leaning his lower back on a counter as he set the wrench aside as well. Blinking at the two, he crossed his arms over his black t-shirt. "Got any ideas? I already asked Charlie and Eden, but they seemed in a rush to go out. Also, Ebony has no idea about this robot. Feel free to take your chances." He was incredibly exhausted, gesturing limply.
Y/n stared at him, as if examining him shortly before returning her gaze back to the robot. Instead of speaking about the robot and calming Tony's worries, she advised him. "You should get some sleep, Tony." He cocked a brow challengingly with his lips staying straight and a stern look lighting up his eyes. "I called you down for the robot, not for health advice."
Sighing, she stared at the mechanics of it for a while. Her finger traced some parts here and there, her skin suddenly feeling a strange bump. Sending a look to Tony, he nodded and gave her permission whilst Faye watched in interest. Popping it open and piercing it with Menace's help, she cut through it and revealed an item inside.
Buried under the lacing of wires, was a small red hat. It was familiar, the New York University logo on it at the very front. Tony scowled, picking up the item. "The guy's been this coordinated thus far. There's no way that this is an accident." He snapped his fingers repeatedly, as if searching for the right sentence. "H-He's baiting us. Almost as if he's trying to get trouble."
Faye took the cap from him, an angry look in her eyes as she balled up the hat in her hands. "Then give him the trouble he wants," Her brown eyes were narrowed on the item as her own version of Venom, Esther, nearly instinctively pierced the cloth of it. Tony snatched it up before she could though, mumbling. "Hold on, kid. We have to scan this for DNA before that."
Y/n crossed her arms, taking it from Tony's hands, sighing and shifting the weight on her leg. "We also need to identify the guy and come up with a plan. It's obvious he knows what he's doing, so we have to think ahead." A voice piped up followed by the door opening and a flurry of apologies leaving Peter Parker's mouth. "I can help," He glanced at Tony apologetically.
"Sorry for being late. I swear I would be here sooner, but some food truck nearly tipped over and then this guy stole an old lady's purse. On top of that, apparently, libraries get robbed! Who knew? Anyway, I had to chase after that guy too and he tried to carjack someone after that. He was pretty stupid, but all's well that ends well." He gave a thumbs up after rambling.
Tony stared at him blankly, blinking before turning back to a table in the laboratory. "Right. . . " Peter's brown eyes drifted to Faye who glared burning daggers at him as her stare didn't falter anything from deadly. Y/n laid a hand on her shoulder, quietly whispering as they bantered softly before Faye gritted her teeth and approached Peter, pushing her hand out reluctantly.
"I'm Faye. Eden's little sister, I have a Venom too. Her name is Esther and she doesn't like you." Tony's eyes popped wide, a small snort coming out of him as he turned around and watched the scene unfold. Almost instantly, Y/n scolded Faye for being so impolite as Peter's ears burned at the tips. "I can't just lie, Y/n! Esther isn't the only one either anyways!"
Giving out a huff, Faye left the room, storming out and probably in search of her brother's whereabouts or Ebony's location. The girl didn't say much, chewing on her bottom lip and letting the tip of her shoe scuff against the floor in a nervous rotating motion. She shared an anxious look with Peter and let out a dry laugh. Mumbling a quiet apology, Y/n turned away.
He didn't say anything, anxiously looking between his mentor, his ex-girlfriend, and the robot. His brown eyes sparked, the orbs landing on the red hat in her hands. "A hat? The other robots didn't have that." His brows furrowed at the item, his hand gently reaching out to her hands and hesitantly beckoning her to give it to him.
Tony scoffed, his eyes narrowed as he snapped at the freshman in college. "Obviously," A flash of hurt went through Peter's eyes, the boy's hands faltering and dropping at his sides with the hat still in his grasp. He whispered softly, "Sorry." Tony massaged his temple, stammering and blinking. "N-No, it's not your fault, kid. I-I just haven't gotten much sleep."
Y/n glanced at him, messing with the elbows of her sweater. "I'll go get you some coffee," She knew that he'd refuse to actually sleep, and even if he did, Pepper and him would get into a loud argument over his own well being. Being selfless was just one of his attributes, and it never failed to self-deteriorate him.
The room fell silent, Peter's eyes still glued to the hat while Tony ran a hand through his pepper and salt hair. He seemed to chew on his bottom lip and ponder briefly, sighing and looking back at Peter. "Things between you and Y/n are fixed, huh?" The boy's head moved up, blinking slowly as he stuttered, glancing down again. "Hm? O-Oh, yeah."
Tony tapped the table on his left, glancing up and staring at the teen with a soft look. "Got some words of advice, kid," Peter stared up at his mentor, the man looking at him tiredly and giving him a half-assed statement. "Don't screw up."
