Chapter fifty nine- mastitis

David's pov
I woke up to mason shouting my name "daddy daddy!" He said standing next to me and tapping my arm so I would wake up. "What?" I replied sitting up "I need to pee" he replied. I got up and took him to the toilet before then giving up on sleep and taking him downstairs to get breakfast. "What do you want to eat mace?" I asked mason who was sitting In his chair playing with a toy whilst he waited. "Lucky charms!" He said excitedly. He isn't really supposed to have sugary cereal on weekdays especially since it's Monday but I know it will keep him happy and I'm not prepared to tell him no and have him be super grumpy. I poured his cereal and cut up half an apple and have it to him since he needed to have at least something healthy. Just as I placed it in front of him I heard Izzy cry upstairs "hang on mace, eat your breakfast" I said to him, then running upstairs to get Izzy so liza could have some extra sleep. I picked her up and rocked her, taking her downstairs so that she could have her breakfast too. I took some milk that Liza had pumped so that I could feed Izzy and gave it to her. Mason was eating, Izzy was eating and liza was sleeping which meant I was doing a good job.
After about an hour and a half, Isabella started getting fussy so we made our way upstairs to wake liza. I kissed her head and ran my hands through Lizas hair to wake her. She sat up as I continued to run my hands through her hair "jeez liza your head is burning up" I said as I rested my hand on her forehead. "I actually feel awful, and I'm freezing so I don't understand why" she said tipping her head back and closing her eyes again. "What's wrong?" I asked wanting to help her "I feel really cold, my boobs are really hurting and I just feel like crap in general" She replied. "I'm getting the thermometer" I replied "Dave, I'm fine i just have a fever it's okay" she said grabbing my hand as I began to walk. "Liza, something could be wrong please let me get the thermometer" I replied. She pouted but it wasn't working.
I soon returned with the thermometer and liza let me put it under her armpit to take her temperature. "Damn liza you're on 103" I said "I'm fine David I promise" she replied. "Babe you're literally smoking hot" I smirked running my hand through her hair again. "Yeah I am" she replied laughing "okay but seriously we have to do something about this you're 103°" I said. "I'll google it" liza said "last time we did that we found out you were pregnant" I said "I'm definitely not pregnant" she replied "what if you are?" I asked "I'm not, we use condoms" she replied. She picked up her phone and typed her symptoms into google. "Breast pain whilst breastfeeding and fever symptoms could be symptoms of mastitis." Liza read out. "What's mad sis?" I asked making liza laugh a little. "Mastitis, is a condition which causes a woman's breast tissue to become painful and inflamed." She read from her phone "that sounds really serious liza" I said to her. "Okay fine ill call the doctors" she said giving in to me "Good, you know it's only because I love you right" I said to her as she put the phone to her ear "I know" she replied smiling a little. "Hello, yeah liza Koshy, is like to make an appointment please, yeah, yeah, thanks bye" she said then hanging up. "Done, someone's just cancelled so there's an appointment free for this afternoon" she replied. She nodded looking still tired "do you want to get some more sleep, I'll take them back down" I said pointing to mason sitting next to liza and Isabella laying on her chest. "It's okay, but I do want you three to just come and sit her and I want us to watch a movie" she said tapping my side of the bed "I can't refuse" I replied laughing and getting into bed with my three favorite people. Mason sat on my knee and liza rested her head on my shoulder as we watched toy story 4 for the millionth time since it was one of masons favorites. Once it was over, Liza, mason and Izzy were all asleep pretty much of top of me which was pretty cute to be honest. "Liza" I whispered shaking her arm a little. " Liza" I said again a little louder, she soon woke up and looked pretty confused "your appointment Is in three hours so I thought you might want to get ready" i replied. She rested her head back on my shoulder again. "You're like a teenager" I said to her laughing "I don't feel good Dave" she replied "i know I'm sorry" I replied putting my arms around her. "We still have to get ready though" I said. "I know" she replied pouting. "Aw baby I hate seeing you sick" I said kissing her head.
We eventually got up and the kids joined us so we all got ready for the day. I was dressed in my usual outfit, Liza was just wearing jeans and a shirt, mason was dressed in some gray pants and a black shirt with a spaceman on it and Isabella was wearing the cutest white shirt with a pink elephant on and matching pants. She looked adorable as per us usual.
I put Izzy into her car seat and got mason to put his shoes on so that we were ready to leave and so liza wouldn't have to get frustrated since i know she's already going through a lot. "You ready baby?" I asked as she picked up her phone and walked towards the front door. She nodded in reply. We all got into the Tesla and made our way there.
"How are you feeling?" I asked liza. "Not good really" she replied "my boobs are killing, and I'm already fed up of whatever this is" she added. "The doctor will sort you out I know it" I replied resting my hand on her leg. She nodded put her hand on top of mine.

We soon arrived at the doctors office, we went in and sat down waiting for Lizas name to be called. After around ten minutes of sitting in silence having our hands laced together, Lizas name was called. We all went into the room and miss sat on the seat closest to the doctor, I was on a chair next to her and mason was wandering round. "Okay so, what can I help you with" the doctor said "well I'm breastfeeding and my boobs are super sore and i feel really run down and I have a fever, I also keep feeling super cold even though I'm burning up" Liza replied. "Okay, well it sounds like mastitis but I can't be sure so I'm going to do a few checks like, bloods, sample of your breast milk and blood pressure" she said. I watched Lizas face sink when she said bloods. The doctor left for a minute to get the things she needed and liza almost broke down. "Dave I can't get my bloods taken" she said turning to me. "Shhh, it's okay calm down" I said pulling her into a hug and rubbing circles on her back. She nodded and sat back up taking a deep breath. "You've got it babe" I said to her "I'm such a baby" she said looking down "no you're not, you're strong and it will only be for a minute and I'll hold your hand the whole time" I replied "I've pushed two babies out of my body and I'm scared of a shot" she said laughing at herself a little. I kissed the top of her head and the doctor returned. I felt Lizas hand immediately go sweaty in mine and she gripped my hand tighter. "Okay so you're going to feel a sharp scratch and then it will be over" the doctor said. She nodded "just relax your arm" the doctor added. She did and then as soon as the shot went into her arm she tensed again squeezing my hand pretty hard. It was soon over and liza looked pretty relived. "It wasn't that bad, I just like to overreact" she said laughing at herself.
The doctor did a couple more tests on liza before we had to go back out into the waiting room to wait for the results. They said it wouldn't take long as it's always pretty clear to see if someone has mastitis.
We waited for about half an hour which was pretty hard on mason and Isabella since they both got pretty fussy but they were soon calm again when liza had fed Izzy and we had brought some snacks for mace. After we waited for what felt like forever, we were finally called back through as they had Lizas results. "Okay so we have found that you have mastitis but we can prescribe you some antibiotics and as much rest as possible will be good for you. It may seem bad but at least it's not something like a virus which you can pass onto your family" she said. The doctor then gave liza some leaflets about mastitis and talked us through it a little more before we headed to the drug store to pick up Lizas antibiotics.
We were soon home and liza, mason and Izzy were all asleep in mine and Lizas bed since liza didn't feel too good again and mason and Izzy were just cuddling her and ended up fast asleep. I pulled a blanket over the three of them sleeping and also took a photo because they looked the cutest. Izzy was asleep on Lizas chest and mason was snuggled right up beside the girls. I kissed all of their heads and then went downstairs to edit my vlog after a pretty long and exhausting day.
