I had texted Maia, asking her to pick me up, tears still falling. Slowing down, but still falling. I rinsed my face off and the bathroom door began to open. Panicked, I hurried into my stall, picking my bag up and clutched it to my chest.

There was a sigh as someone came to a stop outside the stall.

"Rosie, I can see your shoes," Jay said.

I knew I should have stood on the toilet, I thought as I dropped my bag and unlocked the door. Jay stood there with her black hair in loose waves and dark makeup. She looked good.

"What's going on?" she asked.

I just looked down at my feet. A second later, Jay's arms were wrapped around me.

"You've been crying. Rosie, what happened? Why weren't you in art?"

"I-I wanted to go to lunch."

"I heard what happened. Paige and Isaiah saw. But I know that's not the full reason, because you've been ignoring me for days now." She had pulled back as she spoke and now was trying to get me to look at her. "Come on, you'll have to tell me eventually."

"No, I don't," I argued. I hated that she was acting like she cared so much when I knew she didn't. She was probably just using me. The next thing I knew, she'd be asking for tickets to see Demi with her new boyfriend.

"Why don't you?"

"Because you're gonna leave me. Just like everyone else." I twisted out of her arms, pushing past her and walking towards the sinks. She followed.

"What the hell are you on about? I'm not leaving you. What gave you that idea?"

"I saw you. Looking at that guy. How he looked back at you." My anger was flaring, temporarily keeping me from crying. I knew my defenses wouldn't last long, but it was instinct for me. "I think I always knew you never cared for me as much as I wanted to believe you did. I was just so caught up, I didn't even think about it." Along with my rambling, I had also started pacing, arms crossed, but Jay quickly grabbed my shoulders and made me stop. My eyes instantly went to her brown ones. The ugly lighting in the bathroom gave them a caramel tone that made them look brighter against her dark makeup.

God, I just wanted to-

No, Rosie.

"Hey, listen to me. I do care about you, okay? I care about you more than anything and I'm not doing whatever you think I am. That guy you saw? I have a class with him and we're working on a project together. That's it."

My eyes were no doubt glazing over with tears again. I stared at this girl in front of me, wanting to throw myself into her arms, but finding myself unable to. Something still didn't feel right.

"Do-Do you believe me?" she asked, sounding desperate now.

"I don't know," I whispered, tearing my gaze away. I turned away, and I heard her sniffle. Then my back crashed into the wall, Jay's lips on mine.

She made it fast, pulling away to press her forehead to mine. My eyes closed and I felt her breath hot on my face.

"I love you. I love you so much, Rosie, you have no idea."

My eyes opened as I felt her heat retract with her body. Her eyes were filled with tears, threatening to leave black tracks down her cheeks if they fell. My mouth was open like I was about to say something, but nothing could come out.

She loved me?
