That weekend, I convinced Maia and Demi to let me have a sleepover at our house.
Maia brought us snacks and Tess gushed over how well Maia had picked out snacks.
I just rolled my eyes, watching Jay make a character in the new Skyrim I had gotten. "Maia's basically a teenager herself, so she knows," I said.
Tess and I were the only ones really talking, seeing as Paige was in the bathroom and Jay was making a character that would later become a vampire. She kept mumbling and muttering about how she needed to get her own Xbox, but she wasn't apart of any conversation.
"Are you gonna be doing this the entitre time?" Tess asked Jay, who only shrugged in response. "Okay, well in that case, I gotta check something."
One of my eyebrows shot up as she reached for her small duffel on the floor. She pulled it up on my bed, setting it in front of her legs, digging around in the side pockets until she found a precription pill bottle. That didn't hold pills.
"You can't do that here," I said, quietly as she popped the top off.
"Don't worry, I wasn't going to, unless you wanted to. But I was just seeing how much I had left." She glared down into the bottle. "Ugh Mom."
"Mom?" I asked, thinking she was calling me that as some kind of joke.
"Yeah, my mom. She takes some out of my stash sometimes. I don't really care, but I wish she'd tell me. For a while, I thought it was Paige or Jordan."
"And Paige almost beat the shit out of you," Jay said, just as the door to my bathroom opened.
Paige came out. "Talking shit about me?"
Jay laughed. "Nah, man."
"I'll still beat the shit out of anyone. At anytime. Rosie, you should get Mortal Kombat. A new one just came out and I heard it's the best one yet," Paige said, pointing finger guns at me.
I pointed back at her. "Never played it, but I'll get it if Jay ever finishes." I shot a look at my girlfriend, who squeezed her eyes shut and grinned.
"Oh, my god, you look like Demi when you do that," Tess said, laughing as she put her stash back in her bag.
"What? I don't look like her. Do I?" Jay asked me and Paige.
I just shrugged while Paige inspected Jay's eyes. "I don't know. Your eyes are a lot darker. But, no. I don't see it. Your jaw is more rounded than hers."
"So, why does you mom take your weed?" I asked Tess, careful to keep my voice low. I had been curious, but the subject had changed so quickly.
"She has anxiety and she's on a couple medications, but she can't always get refills, so she smokes. I actually got her a little pipe when I found out she'd been using mine."
I was shocked that Tess' mom was so open about it, that Tess got her a pipe. I knew that would never be my life, and I frankly never cared to find out what Maia and Demi thought about me smoking, especially after hearing Maia's story. I didn't think they'd ever forgive me. And I didn't even want to think about what I might have to do to get them to trust me after that.
"You okay, Rosie?" Paige asked, from her spot on the floor. I didn't even notice it when she'd moved, I'd been too consumed with my thoughts.
I looked up, realizing how tense I'd been. "Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry."
"It's cool," Paige said, a smirk appearing on her face. "What's not cool, is this nerd." She lifted her foot, kicking Jay's, making her jump.
The controller clicked and Jay leaned to look at the screen. "You cunt. I lost the eye color I wanted."
