The wedding was scheduled for May 5, 2022, so the time between getting Demi's dress and then was crazy. As promised, Jay and I helped with whatever we could while finishing school and getting ready for graduation in June.

We barely had time to ourselves, and when we did, we always got interrupted. At the very end of April, we were in my room, enjoying some free time. We had been playing Minecraft, just surviving, when a zombie came up behind Jay's character and I swung my sword, killing her in the process.

"I can't believe you did that!" she nearly shouted, respawning.

I was laughing so hard I could barely see. "I didn't mean to, I swear to-Hey, no, no!" I shrieked, seeing her running at me with a diamond sword. "Where did you even get that?"  I asked, running away and jumping to go faster.

"It was in the chest at the house. But you're so gonna pay."

I glanced at her side of the screen and she was catching up to me so I turned, diving into the river and swimming to the other side. "But I'm sorry. I didn't mean to kill you."

"Yeah, that's what they all say. This whole time you've been out to get me." She sounded so serious, but one look at the smile on her face proved she wasn't. But that cost me my lead and she caught up to me, wildly swinging the sword around. I swung mine and we both took damage, but I died first, Jay shouting out in victory.

I had just set the controller down when my door opened and Maia peered in. "What's going on in here?"

"She killed me, so I killed her," Jay replied.

Maia just shook her head a little and I noticed she was wearing a nice outfit, consisting of dark jeans and knit sweater.

"Are we going somewhere?" I asked.

"We're meeting up with Maddie and Dallas to look at dresses for the four of you," Maia said as if it were obvious. It should have been since I knew we needed dresses, but I just hadn't thought about it.

I quickly got changed and we found Demi in the kitchen, ready to go. She was casual, but still stunning in tight jeans and a polka dotted blouse.

In the car Demi told us about her vision, Jay and I would be on Maia's side and Demi's sisters would be on her side. Since it would only be two for each bride, they weren't going to bother with maids of honor, but they did want a little variety in the dresses.

"I was looking at some online and I think a rose gold, pinky dress would look really good with the setup," Maia said, Demi keeping her eyes on the road but nodding in agreement.

"Pink?" Jay said. "I don't really wear pink."

"It's our wedding," Demi said. "Please?"

I gave my girlfriend a pleading look but it didn't take long for Jay to agree.

Since I knew I would be trying dresses on, I wore black leggings, a white shirt, and a denim jacket. Jay didn't have much of a choice, so she was wearing her jeans, a shirt displaying a band I had never heard of, and combat boots.

We went to a different place than where we got the wedding dresses to get our dresses, Maddie and Dallas already waiting inside. We all hugged then met with our consultant, Demi and Maia showing her what they found online.

"I think we have something like this," the consultant, who was named Martha, said, leading us back.

I caught Jay looking around, a slightly disgusted look on her face. "It's different when I know I'm going to be the one wearing them," she explained when she saw me looking at her.

"What do you have against dresses?" I asked.

"Nothing. I think they're more comfortable than jeans, but they're not practical."

"Well, weddings aren't supposed to be about being practicality."

"Stop using big words."

I smiled and bumped into her and she put her arm around me, pulling me closer. We were stopped in front of a rack of dresses in varying shades of pink and Martha was pulling some out.

"I like that one," Maddie said, pointing to one with a sparkly top and flowy skirt.

"Yeah, I do too," Dallas agreed, holding up a second dress just like it. Martha went to find someone to help them into the dresses and Maia showed me and Jay a dress almost exactly like it, but the skirt wasn't as flowy looking.

"What do you think of this?" she asked.

"I like it," I said, without hesitation. It was really a beautiful dress and I wanted to see how it looked on me. I nudged Jay when she didn't answer.

"It's not really my style, but I'll try it on."

Both my moms smiled at Jay.

"Now, that's the spirit," Demi said, finding a matching dress.

After a while, Maddie and Dallas came back to show us their dresses.

"You look so good!" Demi exclaimed, having her sisters turn around so she could see every angle. "Maia?"

"I love it." Maia was grinning and soon after, I was in a fitting room next to Jay. I was surprised I didn't hear anything from the other side of the wall. I had imagined that getting Jay into a pink dress with sparkles would be like giving a cat a bath.

We stepped out at almost the same time and smiled when we saw each other. The dress stopped above Jay's knees and she looked happy. But maybe it was because of me, and not her own happiness about how she looked.

"You look so cute," she said, everyone else coming closer to get a better look. Demi had us spin in a circle and she couldn't contain her giddiness.

"This is going to be the best wedding ever," she said.

We ended up having to stay for a big portion of the day so alterations could be made. It also cost a lot of extra money, but Demi was happy to do it since we needed the dresses now and the wedding was in just under a week. She offered to keep the dresses until the wedding so nothing happened to them and Jay seemed relieved that she wouldn't have to take hers home.

"Thank you for agreeing to wear the dress," I told Jay when we had a minute alone.

"No problem. Jordan will probably call me a Barbie for the rest of my life, but it'll be worth it."
