The axe swung and gained speed as it fell and bit into red flesh, blood filled with iron, bone, iron, flesh, and dirt.

He was left with two perfect halves of a six-hearted Martian who was rapidly bleeding out.

He'd have to work quickly.

One swing had accomplished what Gloxinia had hoped and he had one of Basquias' appendages secure the souls before willing the spirit spear to transform into Moon Rose. Moon Rose combined with bits of Basquias that had formed into two half-golems that attached themselves to each half of Chimera's body. Moon Rose allowed the golem halves to become red flesh and make two bodies.

He checked for a heartbeat in each and heard three hearts beating in both bodies. He took it as a good sign and took each soul in one of his hands, sending them once and for all into separate bodies.

When that was finished, he wiped a sheen of sweat that had formed on his brow and fell back onto Basquias as he waited for the twins to awaken. He'd been listening to Zeldris' thoughts after Mera assumed he and Droll had left. He had watched the memory ceremony and now felt confident in his knowledge of all three souls. No doubt he could use that knowledge to convince Chi to leave Earth if this Escanor person who had crossed her mind multiple times was left alone. A shrimpy bartender who stammered nearly everything he said and couldn't see without his glasses didn't seem like that much of a threat anyway.

So he sat and waited, watching the sun rise higher into the sky with hues of orange, pink, and yellow in the clouds.

Basquias bloomed as one of the twins, Gloxinia wasn't sure which, slowly awakened.
