How long would Zeldris be away? Who was mature enough to handle the responsibility of being in charge while he was away?

Melascula? Maybe. Though her little stunt with Chi and Mera's souls left Zeldris reluctant to decide so quickly.

Galand? No. Too rash.

Estarossa? He seemed like the logical choice.

Grayroad? Another logical choice, but she couldn't plan any violent attacks against the enemy without running the risk of being affected by her own commandment.

Derieri? Probably not a smart move.

Monspeet? No. Not firm enough to lead.

Fraudrin? Absolutely not. If he couldn't handle taking over a town, how could he handle taking over an entire country?

Droll? Possibly. His patience was an asset, but would he be able to take action quickly if needed?

So Zeldris has four options. Melascula, Droll, Estarossa, and Grayroad.

Gloxinia leaned in and whispered: "Estarossa or Grayroad are your best options."

Zeldris nodded. The fairy was right. And Estarossa seemed like the strategic choice.

Mera seemed to be waiting for Zeldris to speak.

He's made up his mind.

His father could wait and, in the end, this kind of diplomatic mission would further the cause. He looked into Mera's eyes and gave her a soft smile.

"I'd like to see your planet."

Mera grinned and Zeldris smiled wider. The presence he had sensed seemed to have stopped its advance for the time being. If he left Gloxinia with the twins, he was pretty sure they'd be safe.

"I have a few things I need to take care of before we leave."

Mera nodded.

"We leave at dusk," Chi replied.

That's more than enough time, thanks."

Zeldris made the jump back to the encampment of the Ten Commandments. The others had gathered there to wait for him.

"Where did you go, Zeldris?" Melascula asked.

"Out."

Estarossa stood up from the wave of stone he'd been sitting on. He approached Zeldris. Zeldris spoke up.

"Gloxinia and I are going off-planet. Estarossa is in charge while I'm gone."
